I picked up an mpd so i can trigger midi patterns of my drum sample collections. i was planning on Battery 3 but the whole purpose of buying radio ready drums is to not have to mix anything, so at this point in time most of the functionality id be paying for is useless to me. I need a cheap program (or freeware if you know where i can find it) where i can load samples to pads, and trigger them with my mpd, that simple. Suggestions?

I've used Shortcircuit for drums in the past and was quite happy with it.

Hydrogen?
It's free.
Only drawback in my eyes: can do velocity layers, but not play several layers at once.

Most DAWs come with some sort of sample triggering device thingy. What's the DAW you're using?

i got sonar X1. comes with a program called Cyclone. Pretty cool, but its moreof a sequenceing loops type of gig. I just need something where i can preview my samples quickly and efficiently and once i find what i want, drag it to a pad and start triggering away

Seriously ~ Poise.

I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil

Yup, I see, thanks. I'm on a Mac but I hear lots of good things about Poise. But on the other hand, Battery if often for sale here on KVR, I believe there's somebody offering it now for $60.

Saturated market I guess, everyone that wants probably has it already. Anyway, have fun with Poise!
