i haven't seen much of this thread (except the last decade of precursors)

i truly appreciate each and every one of you who believe that waves would ever acknowledge the existence of a developer of my economic magnitude.

don't stop believing :)

i'd prefer it if they used a different name (erm.. how much have we spent on promotion already..) but i'd also prefer it if they'd free bradley manning. i mean, i've asked them a lot. better things to do with my time than worry about people who have no intention of caring about anyone but themselves.
you come and go, you come and go. amitabha neither a follower nor a leader be tagore "where roads are made i lose my way" where there is certainty, consideration is absent.

No..when they started selling music Apple Records went after them. Until that point, there was an agreement that Apple could use the name as long as they did not get involved in music. Apple Computers broke that promise with iTunes.. Google itbif you want to know more.
Partly true. As long as apple inc didnt supply music in a physical format they werent breaking any conditions. They didnt and apple corp lost the case.

Yes, in the last suit between them. However, Apple Records was successful in the original suit and the one that followed, effectively stopping Apple Computers from continuing with the Apple II.

Wikileaks is going to release the details on how Waves came up with the name "Element"

The overseers of the "free world" will keep Bradley Manning far away from a microphone so that they can keep doing their dirty business in secret :(

Excellent post and perspective!

I'll take a developer of your magnitude any day!

Just thought about how this thread could get worse.

Maybe by people discussing about the OT again? THAT would be really strange...

With all due respct for Xoxos i would be really happy if at some point this thread would come back discussing about Waves (!!) Element again...

I'm all for it. More music made with it would be nice too :)

Sounds good to me. I went ahead and purchased Element. I found it a VERY good price (plugin discounts) which made the argument to purchase it even more convincing! :)

It is a good first outing for them in the softsynth world and I am curious if they are going to continue in this line and if so, what will they do next?

BTW, if anyone would object to the name Element being used, it would be Honda: that vehicle has been around over a decade I believe...oopps OT again!

Ingonator wrote:Hi,

i just created a few audio demos of some presets i had created with Element. Some are inspired by sounds i already made for other synths without doing an 1:1 copy.
All those audio demos use a single instance of Element and no external FXs were added (also no compressor):

Element - BP PWM Strings 1

Element - Influx Pad

Element - Rez Sweep Pad 1

Element - Synth Brass 01

Element - FM Mod Pad 1

The FM preset is based on sine waves with using the Sine Mod, FM and Phase Mod features. The "rhythmic" effect is done by LFO modulation of the FM amount.

The vibrato in the BP Strings was added with using aftertouch. this is something i do with many of my presets, especially Lead sounds.

The Synth Brass sound (one of my favorite categories besides Synth Strings...) is not as simple to do as it looks. In some synths there is too much phasing going on while detuning and the envelopes are sometimes not right for this.
For the preset in the demo i used a DCO for OSC1 and a VCO for OSC2. The envelope shape value was turned to a positive amount for a "sharper" Attack and Decay behavior.

The "Influx Pad" is a sound i already tried to do on some other synths and is inspired by a preset of the Korg Polysix plugin. again i did not use the original synth for a 1:1 comparison in this case.
FWIW Meffy mentioned at the other thread that the "lawyer" seems to be a troll like expected.

I think that the discussions about SE code in Waves Element and the Xoxos plugin are enough now.

Hi,

there IS some plaintext xml config in the element dll referring to se modules, I checked out of curiosity.
If this means there is actually some se stuff going on under the hood or if this is just some leftover from prototyping/renaming lazyness is beyond me.

hmmm...

I don't know anything about a lawyer or a troll, I just know that you can't please everyone. Hell, you may not even be able to please anyone
