Interesting~ Sad to miss the sub-200s, but I still think I'll go at this price. It's over $100 less than the average price, and there are a lot of places still selling Venoms at $400+. I'm afraid if Amazon sells out the other retailers may not come down...

Yeah, I'm kinda kicking myself for grabbing a 2nd one at $167.....on the other hand I'm pretty damn stoked that I got one for $200!

Mine works great... can't get through all the sounds though in pone sitting. A lot to choose from!
Speaking of choices:
Does anybody have the G-Storm Free Venom patches handy for sharing? The link is dead on his blog, s he puts it "due to file-sharing issues on free blogging sites." He's referring to blogger.com not allowing file sharing, and, the shutdown of mega-upload and the rest of those services.
Anyways; anyone have those files? Could you email them to me, please? It's not pirating, these were offered as free files.

I was thinking this might be a good deal until I realized that for $199 I could buy U-he's Zebra 2. I already have three keyboards. What would I really be buying it for at this point?

- a synth that generates its sounds without using up your mac/pc CPU.
- an audio interface for recording from a mic, guitar and/or an iPhone/iPod.
- a 4-octave keyboard controller with effectively 24 knobs of CCs
- a great sounding 4-part multi-timbal synth you can play and tweak without being connected to a computer.

So far the best presets I have heard for Venom is the ,"Sonic Boost" presets and the good news is they are available.
I didn't care much for the sound of Venom until I heard those.
I am not much for real edgy sounds all the time but they are there if I want them.
Sonic Boost sounds much better to my ears and makes the investment all the more awesome.
Hey, its great to sound like a old hardware Moog or Roland now and again.

Sonic boost sounds cool and I have ordered but actually some of the sounds in bank B are more traditional analog I found.
Once sonic boost is out I plan to go thru the factory presets I won't use and replace with the best of banks.
I still haven't checked out the venomsynth.com banks.

OK, UPS shows my Venom has been delivered so I'll be unpacking it tonight. I've just reviewed this entire thread and am pretty sure this is the case, but as a guitarist who's just bought his first "real" synth:
At this point I should plan on the December 2011 firmware update and installing the editor's V1.11 version, correct? Do I need to install the original editor first so the 1.11 code can update it, or can I just go with the latest?

I've been sifting through those...there's some very good usable sounds.I still haven't checked out the venomsynth.com banks.
Between those, Sonic Boost and my own programming my Venom's going to ROCK!!
Yup!can I just go with the latest?

I used the lates to update mine too. It's an easy installer. It will install drivers first, then prompt you to upgrade firmware which takes approx. 8 minutes. I ran into some confusion on updating mine when the firmware installer was not moving on the progress bar. After 20 minutes I went to close it and got all kinds of warnings about stopping during firmware upgrade, but went and looked at the connection and the drivers had not already connected my Venom, so be sure you have a connected status to the Venom before clicking yes on firmware update. Once my Venom had the connected status, the firmware update went smoothly.
Very usable sounds, but I am really enjoying spinning up some new sounds using some of the different waveforms available. The Venom has a good list besides saw, pulse, triangle, square. Some of the sounds you can get are amazing.

I will definitely look forward to an updated editor if mkdr finishes his. The editor is a little quirky right now and noticed its built off midi quest.
Still usable as is, but a better one is due and some vst integration would just be the bees knees (or venom)

BTW first time I saw a Venom in real life was last night at GC.
The keyboard keybed, ugh, I would say that keyboard would last max 10 gigs if you gig with it.
