Thank you Thrax, your track was also good. Like many of them.

This is the kind of techno I like (probably it's not even techno but I'm not strong at defining electronic music genres...)! Nice use of SFX sounds that keep on spicing up the track. Only I really don't like the lead sound that is introduced at 2:10 it really doesn't fit with the rest IMO.

Anyway, it was an honor to be competing with you all!!!!
Greetings,
Dirk
Thank you for your points and nice comments Dirk! About the lead, that's also what I've been thinking of, but in the end it lets the track really go.
It was also fine competing with you and all the others.

Lots of good music this month. I'm honored by the kind mentions of my humble submission.
Big thanks b3groover. Your track grooves!

Some great sound design and songs here in the challenges. More KVRers need to hear them and vote! I admit that my voting is purely subjective. I am listening to the song, picking my favorites and then rationalizing my choices afterwards.

Post

First, thanks for the votes I've received and the comments, really awesome! It makes me a little bit happy inside..

So I had a long-ish 4 1/2 hour drive and I listened to all the OSC tracks on repeat and I could barely narrow it down to 10-ish.. but eventually got it down to 6, each of which I could put first for varying reasons - ARGH! Anyway, sorry for not being able to give the points out to everyone that I feel deserves them:

5pt: Bjulin - Infected
I didn't like this track much at first listen... maybe the intro just didn't set the mood right for me, but it grew on me *a lot*. I love a lot of the nuance with the percussion, and the melody in the second half is pretty great, too. To me, the sound design is tops - a lot going on that fits well together. I'd love to have some of that skill...

4pt: Irion Da Ronin - B.E.C 3 - The Last Chance
It was said earlier in this thread that there wasn't a discernable melody or something.. but, even if there isn't an overpowering lead carrying things, I hear a lot of melody spread throughout the parts and some of that melody to me stands out by what's not played. A few minor things knocked this off the #1 spot. The bassline is great, sound design and mix are perfect... you jerk :)

3pt: Loris D Solic - All Kidz Want Synthesizers
Well, what can I say? A unique track, a huge step forward in your musical endeavors. A few mix nitpicks kept it from the top spot, but there's something very special about this track, mate. Keep on rocking things the way you want to; you'll have your own style in a flash and be headed to play at the clubs :)

2pt: PocVecem - Qspace (k^w^k-infect-mix)
Just a fun song with nice percussion and electrobits and a really good couple melodies thrown in for good measure. So much good about this track, it's a shame not to be first... I envy your musical talents, too. :-o

1pt: Solidtrax - Do Not Forget Your Bazille For Lunch
For me, the buildup is a bit lengthy... but when it finally gets to the good stuff, it's really good! A really groovy track, really nice sounds and attention to detail. I think during my drive, this was the track I liked listening to the best, it was because it made me go WAY TOO FAST!!! :)

Sorry no HMs this time, there would be too many. If anyone cares for constructive criticism on your track, feel free to message me.

My first voting here. Just have to say - here are some insanely good tracks in this challenge, it was very hard to narrow it down(took me a week)! My voting was mostly based on two things - "progression" - a song should always feel like it's going forward, and "synth feature usage".

5points - z.prime: Beauty of the Electron
Mix is not exactly my cup of tea, but all the elements in it is so amazingly well thought out, sections progress smoothly. Love the intro., constantly builds up. On my permanent playlist!

4points - Loris D Solic: All kids want Synthesizers
Excellent buildup, cool breaks. Demonstates the extremes of the synth very well - too many wtf-moments to count!

3points -evo2slo: Closer to the Sun
Great rhythm section, very human feel, slight russian(?) folk music feel @ 1.52min - loved it. Mix is slightly muddy, but the uniqueness of the song - made it one of my favourites.

2points - Irion Da Ronin: B.E.C 3 - The Last Chance
Good mix, good song - enough said!

1point - Nerd Patrol: Double Time
Makes me feel like a kid again. Download is a bit big though!

Regards
Andrew

I think you all know that strange feeling that you forgot something important but you don't know what.
No, not voting. My votes come a bit later on.
Two hours ago i remembered what it was:

 Happy Birthday Irion!

Don't know the exact date but i think it was this weekend.
(Hey Irion, i hope you hate me now for making this public  )

Well, i'm not that man of big words to describe my votes. (Therefore i became a musician and not a poet  )
As always i tried to put my preferred music taste aside to some extent. And it's not only sound programming, mixing and all those technical aspects. For me music always has been a carrier of emotions and ideas. I'm always happy when at least one single person likes my music. So, thanks to everybody who has voted for my entry! Also to those who will.

These songs took me on a journey (without smoking something):
Adagiocm-APerfectMoment
B3groover-Blochur
Pedalsteeldrummer-MindMeld
Skyzone-ParanoidEye
Stollmeister-NastyBrutishAndShort
Thrax-DarkWater
Yeager-WhoGiveAClap
Teezdalien-Truffles
Jasinski-Barricades

These songs took me on a special journey (also ... see above):

3 points: Solidtrax-DoNotForgetYourBazilleForLunch

Don't worry Poc.
There is no place in my heart to hate anyone in this world, that should be the proper attitude to make a better world.

And no problem in making my birthday public. The last year happened the same and i was so happy with it.
Thanks for saying it.

By the way, didn't you noticed that our votes are alike, the same guys but different orders? hehe.

Now i got fever and i feel like a crappy piece of... :drunk:

Also, thanks for the votes, from Poc and from the others. I'm glad that you liked my track. Many thanks.

Have a nice day guys. :drunk:

1. Irion Da Ronin - B.E.C 3 - The Last Chance (5 pts)
A cyclical nature to the groove that I really love. The sound is gritty yet very smooth, wonderful sonic contrasts. Slightly cold but with a lot of heart and emotion - proof that even cyborg's have souls.

2. Solidtrax - Do Not Forget Your Bazille For Lunch (4 pts)
Infectious groove from the get go. Great rhythmic structure and feel. Love the clicky syncopations. And a great lead sound.

3. Stollmeister - Nasty brutish and short (3 pts)
Original arrangement and very creative sound palette. Great use of noise. Love the organic analog feel. The melody has a beautiful haunting quality that really draws me in. Many repeated listenings on this one.

4. z.prime - Beauty of the Electron (2 pts)
Soon as the intro started I had a feeling this track would be special. Technically intricate but with a natural feel. Great rhythms and love the lead melody.

5. Loris D Solic - All Kidz Want Synthesizers (1 pt)
Wild ride certified!

Five points are not nearly enough. Some other favorites:
Bjulin - Infected
e@rs - Move Fast

PocVecem - Qspace (k^w^k-infect-mix)
Teezdalien - Truffles
Nerd Patrol - Double Time
ClaRago - The Organ Trail

1. Great winter haze atmo, good instrumentation and production. Arrangement could be more convincing. In some cases, production experiments (like 2:40 volume fill) aren't really adding/helping the atmo to do it's thing IMO.

2. Intro might feel a bit stretched, big energetic synths are chocking/eclipsing the other stuff a bit (energy-wise) in some spots.
Very nice overall production.

3. Great production, arrangement, sound. Cool deep-house vibe. Some more "outsider-organic" details could make this track into a sure winner!
Some parts of arrangement seem stretched thus boredom.. is right around the corner. (maybe the fuzzy chorus lead plays more often than needed so it adds to that feel)

4. Some levels are a bit too loud + arrangement feels a bit dry at some points.

5. Although production and arrangement seems a bit sketchy, I think this one has artistic value. Nice 70s mystery-suspense vibe.

------------------------------------------------

Mentioning these for their artistic value more than the production quality in most cases.
Of course there should be more but I apologize for not having more time to check out the tracks some more. ... more. :P

4 - (2 points) Mind Meld
5 - (1 point) Do Not Forget Your Bazille For Lunch

I could easily change the order and a few others easily could have been in this list. I really liked Mind Meld because it did something different than usual. I favored sounds I liked, originality and overall mood rather than technical quality. In quite a few places were sounds that nothing other than Bazille can do with the same character. Especially Bazille just makes some remarkable basses with a raw snarling quality but still solid low end punch. Considering the lack of included presets and different featureset from standard hardwired subtractive synths, I'm impressed by the range and quality of sounds people got from Bazille! Well done everyone!

Oh, and, Happy Birthday Irion! :band:

Post

It's been so difficult this month to come up with a top5, as we believe many more deserve points than only this 5. Sorry for all people who didn't make it to our top5, it's not because you don't deserve the points, it's simply because of the fact we can only pick 5.

I'm currently sick and in bed, but since the other part of Solidtrax has no time today for voting, and since it's the last day for voting, I have no choice. My head is exploding but anyway, here are our votes:

5 points - Loris D Solic - All Kidz want Synthesizers
4 points - Jasinski - Barricades
3 points - IrionDaRonin - BEC 3 (happy birthday Irion!!)
2 points - Teezdalien - Truffles
1 point -- Bjulin - Infected

Again, we think more people deserve points, but forgive us for chosing only 5. Oh wait, that's the rulez.

(edit: I put the points in front now)
(edit2: made a mistake by giving 3 points twice)
