So, what if you waited for a promised update of your favourite plugin and all of a sudden they changed copy protection from ilok to e-licenser for you?Aloysius wrote:I'm actually delighted with this talk of iLok. No harm for Nomad to know that there are differing opinions. iLok makes things easier for me. In fact, I wish I could put every single License I own on it.

Does anybody have nomad Factory's MAGMA?

I used to be anti-iLok but since I got one, it's opened up a whole other world of great Plugins. I understand your frustration.
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

Kind of in the same boat. I've been able to acquire a lot of different things that I otherwise would not have been exposed to.Aloysius wrote:I used to be anti-iLok but since I got one, it's opened up a whole other world of great Plugins. I understand your frustration.
But since I'm a home studio rat, the iLok [and an elicenser for Cubase] stay safely in the PC all the time. I don't even notice them. But if I was a gigging musician or travelling to other studios all the time, I would probably feel differently with the chance of loss or damage going way up.

I already paid full price for MAGMA. If they require that I use an i-Lok key to run the plugin I bought, THEY should buy and send me one (not that I would want it..), right?
If they would require an i-Lok for MAGMA 2 (a new version/license) then it's a whole other story, but this is a free update to version 1.

Until it becomes obsolete and you have to pay for an iLok 3 and iLok 4........Aloysius wrote:iLok 2 rules \m/

Are you running version 1.0.3? I had a crash issue in an earlier version with PurpleVerb, but it was fixed in 1.0.3 as I recall?Nielzie wrote:crash instantly when opening a saved project with the Purple Verb loaded in it.. If I want to have it fixed I need to buy an i-Lock all of a sudden?![]()

Yes, v1.0.3. They didn't fix it to work in all hosts/platforms unfortunately. I've already been in contact with NF Support about it.DevonB wrote:Are you running version 1.0.3? I am not anti-dongle.
I have bought products that use ilok, ilok2 and e-licenser...
However had I bought it with the expectation of running it on both my Studio PC and my macbook pro (not at the same time).....and they changed to ilok after I bought it, I would be mightily pissed.

Nomad is just not commenting...?
I came and found this thread because I heard that Magma now finally does support 3rd party stuff, and wanted to see how that finally shook out, and bam, surprise dongle!
Well, at least their IP is now safe and sound, right!?
Should be fine just stonewalling customers and letting it ride, yeah?
It wont be the same old story of pirates sailing in open seas while paying customers get handicapped needlessly, right?
Magma will have to amazing and flawless with 3rd parties to get over this shitshow.
So that said, has anyone actually experienced the 3rd party action or is the whole thing dead since this thread?

Am I missing something ? From the Nomad site:
VST, RTAS and AAX plug-ins.
32-bit and 64-bit are supported.
You can authorize this software on up to 5 computers with a simple one-click authorization procedure (no dongle key required).

maybe they did change their mind about ilok, cause I too looked when ilio announced the latest version and there was no mention of ilok on it.
