Hey KVRers, I'm looking for a notation/score editor and viewer app for my Ipad (4th gen.) that will work with my Kurzweil PC3X and iRig MIDI. I want something relatively simple for recording and editing my piano ideas and for reading MIDI files in staff (sheet music) format. The ideal app would have:

- notation/score editor (i.e., staff view; piano roll view would be a nice addition, but not necessary)
- ability to record and play external MIDI
- Ability to import MIDI files or other formats and display in staff view
- Core MIDI support
- Built-in metronome
- A basic internal piano sound would be a nice option, but not necessary.

From what I've seen so far, I think I'm looking for something like the Notion app, but for external MIDI.

Not too concerned about price as long as it's what I'm looking for. Is there anything out there like this?

Looks like a little more searching found me exactly what I'm looking for, and then some: Symphonix Evolution.

I don't know how comprehensive it is, but the latest version of Notion now records from MIDI in. You might want to take a second look at it because it seems to fit what you need. Maybe contact Notion directly...

Now we know why Notion added MIDI in recording...

Yeah, but Notion doesn't appear to send MIDI out to external devices, and that's the major feature I was looking for. I've been playing with Symphonix for about an hour now and it is a fantastic app! Not sure how I missed this one before.
