So, I think I was right then about there being a few being used, such as:
Sample Catalog
SampleCatalog
Sample Catalogue
YetAnotherBloodySampleCatalogLink.html
With such a vast variety of choices, now I'm just confused as to which one I should try first!
Well, thanks
edit: sorry, I forgot sample-catalog
later

If I remember correctly someone used Apple's iTunes for this. You can do searches against filenames, create libraries and open files in explorer with a mouse button or two. (Of course it can do searches against id3-tags in mp3s, but storing data in lossy format for a sample library doesn't sound the optimal solution)jackson wrote:Hey,

Searching filenames sounds a splendid idea. Sadly I have a bad habit naming files mysteriosly like "ufbdpre 1 v.wav"...
I don't how iTunes handles different bit depths and rates. I think I once tried playing 24/96 wav but can't remember what happened, sorry.
Good luck!-)jackson wrote: want to keep it incredibly well organised from the get go

Screw it all, I'll record them each to induvidual 2-track tape and sort them by smell.
Unfortunately, knowing how much junk is in my current samples folders, I think I'll be smelling a lot of shit.

there are two guys who might know something:
One of them calls himself pheleep and the other phz
(about the latter I heard rumours that he should be the legendary synth-edit coder experimentfour in disguise
