you'd be better off worrying about the inundation of, at best, mediocre, music. irrespective of the tools used. worry less about those tools and more about the ideas and hopefully you wont contribute to that too much.
That is certainly correct, and one reason I hardly ever listen to modern music anymore. Except for Sade and a few other big as well as less well-known artists, I am an 80s person :)

At least this thread took 3.5 pages to turn into a popcorn/annoyance-thread  -  normalle KvR threads turn over after 1.5 pages if one of these words is used:
- Synthedit
- Virus
- Cubase / Reaper
- "which is the best"
:D
so is this a progress or is it just because most people are busy reading Namm news?   :hihi:

1. You can post anything here claiming this and that without people being able to know what you actually posted.
How polite....  :?

What's up with the SE website? Looks pretty screwed up...

hosting company server crash. the website of a tool is not something relevant to someone who aint gonna use stuff made with it though, is it?
An idiot on Set Theory:

Ah, ok. Just as I wanted to buy it :hihi: Maybe an omen :?:

Oops, you had added something. I AM using stuff made with SE, and I want to see for myself how that works, maybe I can come up with something myself :) I have done some comparisons and I guess I know why some SE synths sound so much better than others...

Post

fluffy little something: you are aware that some people
use SynthEdit without bothering to export to VST?

Yes, I know, but what is the point of your remark?

Post

question first: are you including synthmaker in this?

Post

i think my point is that you should just find yourself
a download of v1.017 to start off and install it and
have a messaround with it.

Ah, yes, I have had the free version on my computer yesterday, played around with it. Seems well made :) I have no idea how long it takes to learn the basics, but there seem to be a number of tutorials and the help files are also quite good :)

I have already developed the concept for my synth on paper :) If I knew how to program, I would do it that way, but I don't know and I am too old to learn C++. So SE might be my only chance to do it. And since I am too lazy to do something in vain, I would eventually want to turn it into a VST and maybe offer it for free...

well there you go; you'll soon find out that the concept of
using third party modules isn't as (?) 'non-' synthedit/unpure,
as suggested earlier. simply that you are offered a basic set
to start work with - which you can do a lot with. in realworld
circuits there are many different models for filters for example,
so it is only natural that add-ons should be 'permissable'.

in fact you'll find that what you have onboard will keep you busy
for a long time, and when you start to add stuff people have made
for it (you can find all the links on daz diamond's site) you'll
see the benefits of having an open-ended environment like that.

The interesting thing is that I have just bought a donationware SE synth which sounds veeery well (for my kind of music, i.e. old-skool stuff; it sounds similar to IL' Sawer, the only thing I ever liked from IL). I told the guy who made it that it sounds a lot better than his other synths, and he said he only uses what is included in SE, no third-party modules :) I guess he just got lucky with that one synth...

For the same reason that some plugins coded in native code sound better than others... i must admit that i feel like despite 10 pages of explanations, you still didn't quite get the point. :?

I stick to my view, most hand-coded synths sound good, that is the rule, bad-sounding ones are the exception, with SE it is the other way round. All I am doing is analyze why some SE synths sound great, so that I can copy the "secret" should I get SE myself (I am talking about synths made with standard modules of course).
