what if i can't be arsed and i am prepared to pay for the service?
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

Waste of money, IMHO, but suit yourself. I'd rather save some cash and divert to something else (a plugin or two or dozen, for example).

Funny. I wouldn't have thought that a Mac vs. PC debate could survive these days.... I never really get the point of telling the other party that they've made a big mistake.

Even if someone buys a Mac just for the shiny looks of it, or because he likes to be part of the apple "cult" (if that still exists), so what? And yes, you can build a PC of equal or higher performance for much less than what apple would charge. So what? These are simply buying choices, it's not as if apple betrays anyone just because their machines are expensive.

Actually, in everyday life you do find (and probably accept) that people are spending more money to get products of a certain "brand" all the time. I wonder if there are forums where people are being criticised for buying Armani suits just because there are cheaper good-looking and more endurable other clothes...

Ever and ever again it's amazing how there can be a long debate about simple matters of individual choice. :)

Well said. If someone is prepared to pay 2 or 3 times the price for the same thing with prettier (which is subjective) looks..let them, it's their money. Everyone is entitled to spend their money on whatever they want. Steve Jobs was truly a marketing genius. :)

It really sucks that any idiot can build a PC for peanuts and that software released for Windows over a decade ago will still run on the newest Win OS, or that you can run the newest Win OS on an older computer....

Some of the most creative musicians I've known swear by their Apple setup and have little interest in these diatribes. They often also have no interest in becoming experts in computer hardware. Maybe they prefer to spend their time perfecting the craft of making music.

Sometimes these arguments remind one of Amadeus. In this version, Salieri, having researched the whole thing and used the best logic just cannot accept that some crazy kid who is using some overpriced Apple setup can make interesting music.

I'm going to tackle this baffling mystery myself once I get done with figuring out why people spend so much time and money on shitty music... :hihi:

Apple has already spoken. They no longer care about the high-end user base. Just look at the amount of work they put into iOS vs OS X or into ipads vs desktops. And if you don't believe me read this:

http://arstechnica.com/apple/2013/01/ap ... on-march-1

Can you imagine the Apple of 2004 telling the EU: A new "pro product" to replace the existing Mac Pro won't be available until sometime "later this year."

And my last $0.02 - Windows 8 desktop mode is as good as Windows 7. Just avoid metro like the plague. :)

Salieri used Logic? I knew it!!! Amadeus surely used a PC, then.

Probably MS-DOS, at the time ...

this, because it's an idea you like, amounts to something larger, 'anyone can become a computer builder same as the people that work for Apple'? It's absurd. Surely I could have saved a lot of money and wasted a lot of time with a field of endeavor I am not especially well-suited for, instead I spent that time directly on the craft and art of music.

individuals prioritize differently as such.

You know, I would actually have considered Sonar but you can't sell the software on if it doesnt work out. 30 days is not enough time to properly evaluate a DAW in my opinion.
