Excuse me for asking such an obvious question but do you realize how long the DAW was coming Real Soon Now? :?

Well considering it took Ableton 3 years to release a beta of Live 9, and Logic 9 is three years old, plus the amount of plug ins that aren't 64 bit ready, ( considering 64 bit has been on the horizon for 5 years), and Bitwig taking 2 1/2 years to release a beta gets put into perspective.

The only thing I'm slightly upset about is they haven't expanded their beta team, and they've already been asking that team about features etc.

One thing that would really frustrate me, and is very likely to, is if BWS was as mediocre in hosting soft synths you want to play as Live is. The big drawback to using just Live and some soft synths is Live has no way to CPU save when switching between instruments, they're all always on, and take resources. So having something like 8-12 softs synths loaded to play live along with a couple Gigibytes of audio tracks and clips, puts a strain on a laptop that's unnecessary. I somehow doubt this was a concern though....

I'm not pissed. I'm just over it. Now there is a more "serious" thread for everyone to have. Enjoy!

to be fair,

after viewing the video,it's my impression bitwiggers are quite under heavy pressure (which isn't always bad if you want to do the right thing :) and imo they want to sell a goood complete product!
i'm positive that bitwig will be a useful daw.:)

in the meantime have some fun, otherwise this thread makes no sense. :D

Yeah, I'm actually looking forward to seeing the reports of how the Linux version runs.
Especially in relation to controllers. I can foresee mini computers installed next to tiny screens and a controller keyboard/Push type thing all in a compact area for live use, without any laptop visible for instance.

Why does anyone care about linux?

back on topic, push looks to be the shizzle my nizzle. Seriously, if it's the tight integration it looks to be, it will solve all kinds of 600 usd fund issues :D

Live 9's beta is a hassle because it's a beta. But, it's working and functioning and actually providing feedback in the way of a heartbeat (a fairly strong one) so we are moving in the right direction. PDC is being bitched about at light-speed...we'll see how that goes.

Who wants a danish or a snack-cake? we need them during moments of crisis like this!
