no probs. there are lots of tools to extract bits out of a dll around but was hoping that there's a "recommended" tool for that

I'd recommend good ol' resource hacker (http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/)

However you don't need to hack anything for Dune, GUI elements are in a resource folder somewhere like C:\VST Plugins\DuneBE\RH_resources (Beat edition but sure the full version is similar).
