these boxes seem great fun although at 899$ a bit on the pricey side considering the other offerings at NAMM.
but great features and sound in a small package though. full fledged monosynths.
moog, arp,303,and SEM choices.
the "arp2600" boomstar unfortunately it's just the 4075 filter (the inferior post lawsuit one with high ferquency flaw) and not the highly sought after 4035 (the one based on the moog ladder design).

The 'Boomstar' series is well known in these parts and I'm a great fan. My Boomstar should be arriving here soon and I can't wait to give it a spin.
The price is not that steep (if compared to other synths below $1000) when the feature set is taken into account. The generic specification shared amongst all Boomstars is really comprehensive. Only Dominion-X can surpass it but at a much higher price (850 euro which at the current exchange rate makes it about $1150).
In the video Eric briefly talks about the 303 Boomstar and how it's close to the SH-101 sound...this makes me want to get that too. Choices...decisions...This is a great time for analog synth fans !

An SH-101 doesn't have all those other features - he was just referring to the filter, check out the other specs._leras wrote: Can't you get a real sh-101 for less than tht?

Funny, thats got to be the worst boutique analog synth presentation I've ever seen, but it was so entertaining! Funny guy. That 303 sounds MEAN!

Nick mentioned elsewhere that it was the last day of the show, and the poor guy doing the presentation was totally exhausted.
I'm just wondering why they're putting out an SEM version at basically the same price as Tom Oberheim's SEM.

The specification of the SE SEM exceeds that of the Oberheim SEM. This Boomstar is a much more complex (and perhaps a more 'complete') synth.deastman wrote:

It's the SEM I'm waiting to hear tbh.
I'm thinking it'll be the perfect complement to a Mono Lancet and a Dark Energy.

Demos... I'm planning to make some. In the mean time...this thing is F A T.
Also the amount of features packed into this little box is insane.
I didn't know this but there's cutoff-to-aftertouch. A nice unexpected touch.
The combination of ring-mod plus feedback makes for a very full, punchy sound.
Plus the X-mod - I'm happy as a baby!
Loopable envelope? On an analog synth? Can't move on from this as they chug along so nicely. It's like a simple arp.
So far I get the impression that this is the best analog synth to come out in the last few years.

Yes it's high on the list for me, I'd like to get an analog synth this year. Out of all of them these look like the ones I'd have the most fun with. In particular I love loopable envelopes.himalaya wrote:Demos... I'm planning to make some. In the mean time...this thing is F A T.

I haven't heard any high quality demos yet, nothing has wowed me.
As much as I'd like something a little different, the moog filter does sound the most appealing to me of all the demos. I've wanted a Vermona lancet for a while, but it's very simple compared to this so maybe the boomstar is the best option. I've always entertained the idea of getting an SE1X or Omega some day too.
I've always been seriously interested with the Omega. Hands down best audio demos ever: Laughable hour, Let me just say this and a bunch of others they did. Goose bumps!
