I have 'em and use them quite a lot. The reverb is really good on drums and it has character, it may not work for everything, but when it does it is great. Dim D is not used that much, but I often like it on bass or sometimes vox or guitar.

Yeah, that's a great thing about it, so little knobs and they really do change sound quite a lot and in meaningful way. I'm not using it all the time, as sometimes I just want a different texture but it is so easy to operate and really easy to see whether it works or not for a particular task.TheoM wrote:wouldn't even bother with any other verb now on drums but the 250. It gets me the result i want every single time with 3 knob pushes.

Well with all this good talk I could not resist and downloaded the demos, even though I don't have cash on hands (which as we all know is usually not a good idea).
DimD really is something. I launched it on a simple Logic EP, and the result was a very delicate and elegant sound. Instant match. It blends with the sound in such a way that it sort of "reveals" it, for lack of better vocabulary. It hurts when bypassed.
I was seeing myself using it EVERYWHERE already, but what with no 64bit AU still?
I knew there had to be a reason why I hadn't demoed it yet…
As for the EMS-250, the demo would not install on my Mac OS 10.8.2. "Installer encountered an error etc.". I extracted the AUs and keyfile from the package with Payload Extractor and tried to operate a manual install, to no avail.
32 & 64bit AUs in component folder, keyfile in the same folder that the DimD one. Moving DimD keyfile temporarily because the two files bare the same name. No luck: the AU validates, GUI opens, but sound pass through without any alteration.
Shame, shame really, the DimD is sooo good, I am really curious to hear more.
I wish I could hear it on some old drum machine sounds.
Well, good for my wallet at least

Dim D is available in 64bit AU.....
And I had the same experience trying to demo the 250, so I had to bin that without hearing it unfortunately.
But yes, hmmm, the chorus is very very nice indeed.

Anybody else noticed this? There is no info in the manual...cyphersuit wrote:It's my secret weapon too. Only strange thing for me is that mode 3 and 4 sound exactly the same.
Finally!

It is a really beautiful Chorus. It sounds so great on trance leads and pads. I only have the demo so far.
I remember the reverb being very nice but my demos expired and I didn't have my good speakers back then. Love to hear it one more time.

Yes, I can confirm that here in Cubase 7.0.1 Mac. (I only downloaded the demo a couple of days ago, and I too have the 250 demo locked into bypass mode, and did write to Harrie about it, not having seen any other reports about that.. now the forum is full of themTheoM wrote: Can others on mac confirm that attempting to move ANY front page 250 knob with the mouswheel results in instant crash? any host is fine to report with, as it does it on three different ones here.
I did get a life,once...but it was faulty, so I sent it back.

It's a bit frustrating, to say the least, that both the webpage and DimD demo are not up to date.
Between this and the faulty AU 250 demo, how many sales gone by?
If not for this thread, I would have wait indefinitely for DimD to be 64bit AU before considering demoing it.
And even after the demo, I could have been left with the idea that it's only 32bit!
Thanks for the tip Theo. Unfortunately it doesn't work here. Maybe dependent on the whole installer thing. It allowed me to witness that the AU did not recall parameters when the GUI is closed and reopened though. But that doesn't mean anything really, since I had to force the install. NONETHELESS, I JUST EXPERIENCED A LOGIC CRASH WHILE TRYING THE MOUSEWHEEL THING. LOGIC DID NOT SAVE ANY "CRASHED" VERSION. THIS IS NOT COOL.TheoM wrote: all are 64 bit, cross platform, au and vst.
I am VERY happy that others have confirmed, without me asking, the sound bypassed issue on the demo in logic AU.
You will find a trick. If you close the gui, open it and hit play again you'll eventually get it to work.
I am not happy there is a bug of course, but happy now that Harrie knows i am not nuts.. and my testing was all on 10.6.8 so a totally different platform.
The full version does not exhibit the problem but when you reload your project the reverb makes no noise until you open the gui (only need to do it once)
An inconvenience i can live with for now, Harrie loves his "babies" and i am sure he will fix them..
Can others on mac confirm that attempting to move ANY front page 250 knob with the mouswheel results in instant crash? any host is fine to report with, as it does it on three different ones here.
Edit: it did save a crashed version. My bad.
I don't want to sound unkind, especially since the DImD is so nice, but the more I'm into this thread, the more I remember why I was waiting before demoing and buying the plug-ins. Lack of apparent 64bit AU, overdue webpage update, not what one would call a *tangible* personal online presence from the dev (I remember one timid thread from GS?). There is no doubt Harrie is a talented fellow, but there's a tad of vagueness around the whole thing that's a bit uncomfortable. Website is not a model of straight-forwardness, on this very thread some users are questioning the fourth DimD slot… The bugs… All of this would be nothing really, if only the dev would only take the time and effort to assert his presence and answer questions, as well as giving a clear roadmap as to what's coming (and what's already done) and offering proper demos.
Once again, if it doesn't work the first time around, well, shit happens, life goes on, no problem. As long as the dev is pro-active and monitoring the scene closely, things will get sorted out.
I think, Theo, that you may have, here, part of the response you were seeking as to why those plug-ins are not more widespread, or word of mouth a bit shy.
Anyway, the DimD's a definite buy for me since it's so awesome AND 64 bit (surprise!). Is it stable though? If not it's a no go.
As for the 250, well, Harrie? Are you there? Give me a proper demo and if I like it and it's stable I WILL buy it. I WILL. Just not on blind faith. Also, update your webpage!

Hello all!TheoM wrote:yeah the dimension is perfectly stable in all platforms i tried. it's the 250 that's always been a bit buggy.
Thank you Theo for opening this thread. It is nice to get feedback from so many people. I am looking into the items reported and am working on getting more assistance.
I am working on:
Updating the plugins and installers for windows 8,
AAX-support for MAC and PC,
2 new products,
Manuals update,
Installer update for the mac versions.
Website update.
Keyfile system update when two different products are used.
I'll add the bugs reported to the bugtracker and will inform you when updates are rolled out.
Thank you for the feedback!
