Hello guys,
I just upload this infographic that shows you how the channel strips look like in almost every DAW. I would like to say that reason has the best look. Second come Cubase 7. I also like the minimalistic look of the reaper. I want your feedback. Thanks a lot for your time.

Yow. That's dramatic. Yeah, I agree with you -- Reason's looks great.
Gotta say, though -- the Sonar X2 one is a bit unfair. It's got three tabs, and the ProChannel tab has a whole lot going on, yet it's clean and gorgeous.

i think that look is more important than sound... for sound there is always some great studios in the corner to mix and master your track properly with big mixers and tube processors. Don't forget that the prodigy has made their hits with reasons audio engine. I just want to get excited when i am mixing my song.
thats my opinion
thanks a lot for posting VORT3X.
filkertom, yes its a little unfair but don't forget that both studio one and cubase has different view modes. I mean those with the huge metering monitors that looks amazing.
I have to say although i use logic i don't like how is it look like.

i think it would be nice to compare those different modes then as well..
they also do have different usage paradigms.
also some of those channelstrips would profit from being filled. like e.g. s1 or live (which has a totally different channelstrip visible most of the time) or ..

The different view modes are indeed great, yes -- one of the biggest problems with any DAW these days is frickin lack of screen real estate. I love being able to tab back and forth in Sonar, and get to that huge 4-band EQ and the Compressor.
I also agree that Reaper's is elegant, clean and simple (although I use a somewhat more contrasting color scheme than you, which helps me a lot).
I'd like Samplitube's a lot more if it had graphic feedback on the EQ.

I'm afraid it's a bit tricky involving REAPER... there are some themes which are widely used and are almost official (Imperial, Rado, etc.) which look very different from the default... so, while it's fair that only default strips are compared, actually a lot of people is not using the default - at least in REAPER)...

I don't like Samplitube's look. Its like using an analog mixer in the digital age, despite the sound quality.

I am still trying to figure out are you joking or something? how in the hell look is more important then the sound of an audio application? In case you missed a point almost 99% of those mentioned in your blog are supposed to replace big studios with tubes..dimigo wrote:i think that look is more important than sound... for sound there is always some great studios in the corner to mix and master your track properly with big mixers and tube processors. Btw all famous Prodigy albums are done on hardware instruments. Their last one was done with Reason and Protools. But it wasn't that much of a success like cult old ones..(i don't like their last album at all anyway but the fat of the land is amazing..and it doesn't have anything with software)

Heh. Mabian, now you've got me going through the Reaper stash (which I haven't done for awhile) checking out themes.... (I'm using Grey Matter beta 3, btw.)

kmonkey do you think that any of those programs will eventually replace the analog equipment? This tools are made to made our life easier. There are lot of technics that can take a dull sound and turn it into massive sound blast. I don't think that the sound quality is the best think to look at. I was thinking about it myself if it is or not that the quality matters the most. But i have seen projects on every program turning into world hits. So? Whats the point? For home studio speaking, but also the quality that audio engines has these days which is pretty awesome, these tools is better to make our life easier than to search for extreme high quality. I am only expressing my opinion, i don't say that this is the truth or the only truth. I am just saying that this is my conclusion.
