I do have one reservation, though :

The red plug... well, that color is a big NO NO.

It makes one dizzy without even turning the thing on (psycho-acoustic enhancer ?... )

The other one is magnificent. I love it.

Well, unfortunately Sonic Enhancer VST2 crashed my Cubase 7.01 and would not pass MUX' vst validation.

From the limited time I used sonic enhancer it sounds good. But maximizer doesn't show up in 64bit Sonar X2 win 7 64. Enhancer also crashes sonar after a certain amount of time.

The maximizer shows here as MaxSonixVST2 on X2a Producer Win7 64bit

64bit sonar? also, do you have both enhancer and maximizer dll's?

Yes, SONAR X2a Producer 64bit using the default VSTPlugInNameFormat value they show up as SonicEnhancer (SonicEnhancerVST2_x64.dll) and MaxSonixVST2 (SonicMaximizerVST2_x64.dll), both 64bit VST plugins.

I thought i would let you know about a couple of free VST sonic enhancers released here : http://elements.byethost3.com/plugins.html
Basically, there are inspired by hardware processors like BBE & others(2 bands exciters), and were released on the Reaper forum as JS plugins.
Bodan from Element plugin compiled then as native plugin for Windows and Mac, available as 32 & 64bit, with vumeters and oversampling.
I made a very simple GUI for the red one.






They're free, so you can grab them and use them if you like

All the plugins on this page are full 64 bit path input to output with double internal precision. They are written in C++, conform to VST 2.4 standard and should be compatible with all major VST hosts on market.

When in plugin chain, toggling other plugs on and off for A/B comparison will bring enhancer to its knees (ie. bring it to a halt and/or the host program)

Not being sure what a "sonic maximizer" really is, I did some testing with these plugins.

At first I thought they might be harmonic exciters, but they aren't - no audible harmonics are being added. I observed no phase changes, no M/S processing, no delay-based widening, no dynamic processing. They appear to just be two-band filters, giving a boost around 200Hz on the low side and a larger boost at 8KHz on the high side. I was able to duplicate the effect pretty closely using a parametric equalizer. The only difference between the two plugs seems to be slightly different EQ curves.

But maybe I'm missing something. Sinkmusic, I know you're not the programmer, but perhaps you have some insight into just what these effects actually do?

As for EnhancerVST2 validation/hang issues, i will try to fix it and hopefully re-upload in a day or two.

I really (REALLY) like the enhancer. the fact that I am (we ?) unable to use it (both VST2/VST3), is a real bummer for me. it can do some real nice thing to one's audio.
