A friend gave me an 88 key weighted controller on loan tonight, and I tried to connect to igrand with my usb to midi adapter (the generic one on eBay/amazon) and cck, but the key releases were re triggering notes as was the sustain pedal. The same setup, but with an old Roland alpha Juno works fine, the weighted controller plugged into my MacBook with the USB midi interface still did the retriggering, but with my Alesis 26io FireWire interface no retriggering using that devices midi ports. So obviously the usb midi cable and the keyboard are a bad match. Anyone have an idea why that would be? Usb midi adapter has worked fine with other keyboards. The new controller is a Roland RD-100. I should have picked up that irig midi I saw in target for $20 just after thanksgiving...

The interface? Yes, it is. It has worked with everything I've ever used. I think, in more research last night, it has to do with something called "run-on midi commands" that involves the keyboard sending strings of info, an older technique when bandwidth was an issue. I don't know more than that. Seems like some interfaces deal with that better than others. Seeing as how this was about $5, I'm guessing that's it. Not a major need right now, the keyboard has built in piano sounds that sound just fine, but I would like to eventually use it with the igrand when I want that sound, as it is nicely inspiring. My wife was a classical pianist at one time (she'll deny it) and played for over 2 hours last night once we had the keyboard set up, then she asked if I could connect igrand because she was loving the sound of it the night before. That's when my trouble started and I stayed up way too late trying to solve it...
I tried using midibridge to filter info, etc., but it didn't help. Since it did it with my macbook too, but when using my alesis fireire interface it didn't (on the macbook obviously), it means the cheap usb midi interface and this keyboard are not a good match unfortunately.
