Best studio monitor headphones under $100

when i say under $100. i mean that 100 is my absolute roof and it would be awesome if you could find me something cheaper. I am just looking at some basic studio monitor headphones that will give me an unchanged sound. I have seen some of the recommendations but i am afraid the headphones will change it too much.

If I were you, I'd save (or add $26) and get Audio-Technica ATH-M50 cans. Really good all-around pair.

That being said, I wouldn't change my DT 880 Pros for anything.

i wouldn't go for the ath's for monitoring as they are known to be bass-heavy....great if you like that sort of thing, but not so good for monitoring or making mix decisions

i'll echo the krk kns recommendation...i haven't heard the 6400's, but i own the higher model (8400's), ans they are fantastic cans....i would urge you to save for the 8400's, but you seem pretty firm on your limit

anyways, have a look into the 6400's

M40 has my recommendation. 6400 is OK, but I prefer M40. At that price range, no matter what headphone you use, you will have to learn them.

6400 is light but feels very plastic. M40 has lasted a long time for me. I find M40's response more palatable and analytic as much as 6400.

But to pay more attention to OT here, you want "unchanged sound"... you will certainly be able to get some analytic headphones that do not exaggerate, but there is no "unchanged sound" when it comes to headphones. Either get something cheap (M40, 6400) and learn them or get something little higher up (K240, DT880...)

Wanting something flat is audiophile thing. We know there is no such thing, you will just have to learn your gear.

What's the consensus on the Sony MDR-V6? They're in the right price range. Just have to watch out for fakes.
