I must also be mental as I found some great presets in all 4 banks. saying that there are some commercial presets that people are raving about that I found about 2 sounds in, max.
Im not using it to make my music as such, its for live use with the band.

Haha. I found presets in all 4 banks that I really liked. But I bought it because I'm their marketing audience....and thrifty....

Can say with great confidence they overused the awful reverb though!

Well, I certainly don't take offense. I think there was a small change to the gain structure right after many of the sound designers submitted their patches. I know that it broke some of the patches I made and I didn't have enough time to resubmit them. The 'AGTTHT' patch suffered from this in particular.

...And we all have different tastes when it comes to synth sounds. Looking forward to hearing what you do with your Venom. :)

I love that patch "as is"! Nice and dirty!

Some of the patches sound completely overdriven with digital distortion and not even having to use the decimator.

That explains it if they changed the gain stage late in the game. Bonus for dirty synth lovers like myself. Saw the potential in it right away.

I should point out that most of the patches were resubmitted to accommodate this change. I was doing QA testing for a different product at the time, so I was not able to update my patches.

I'm glad you like the AGTTHT patch. :)

Well, I have a few softsynths, but now my primary synths i really use are ones I can directly manipulate with hardware controls, and can get dirty and mean pretty easy. So I have the MS20 controller hooked to iMS20 app as a standalone, the Venom, and my Arturia MiniBrute.

All these can really scream although for sound design Venom is most flexible. They can all sound very smooth too, but that's not what I use them for.

To be expected i guess, same with soft synths, presets get drenched in FX. Output seems quite low, but i'll be putting both synths into a mixer first, so not a problem.

Hey, thanks. For those who are curious, Justin Sullivan is me. :)
I wasn't aware that Niels (my current employer) had done so many patches.

...another gripe...whats with the display? The preset names look like they were written on a 1980's calculator. :hihi:

Yeah...
I wish I still had the mock-ups for what it was supposed to look like with a multi-line graphic LCD. I can't imagine that I'm legally obligated to keep my mouth shut anymore. :hihi:

There were also plans for another synth, the S1-49 (Venom was the S0-49). There was talk at one point of Access doing dsp/firmware development.

At that point someone should have said..."now Avid, be a good boy and finish your vegetables before you eat your desert!"
