I was able to reproduce the issue as well, now let's figure out the root cause and fix it!

EDIT: found the root cause and fixed it. now building again. will upload the new build in 30 minutes.

I'm having the same problem here with Logic. A sure way to crash it every time is to open a new project in Logic, open SynthMaster, select the very first patch ("8 BIT oldschool sqr" in my installation), then play a note from the keyboard. Other patches also seem to crash SM now and then, but not every time.

Here's the crashlog:

Issue fixed and server updated. Thanks for the bug report!

Just download the latest version again and install.

The crashes are gone, thanks! :)

Actually I was about to ask something completely different when I encountered the crash bug, so back to that: this is something so obvious that I'm sure it's addressed somewhere, but I just couldn't find anything related to it... or then I'm just missing something.

Anyway, the issue is simply this: many SynthMaster presets are completely out of tune, most often too high. This problem has been there from the the very first SM version I started using last year. I see that some updates in the past have corrected some tuning issues, but still I couldn't find anything related specifically to this.

I tried editing some of the patches to find what exactly causes this, but the reason is kind of elusive, and it doesn't help either that I'm not yet very experienced SynthMaster-master. One thing I found in some patches is that pitch LFO modulation seems to be added to the base pitch, instead of keeping the base pitch in the center, which of course makes the pitch too high. And sometimes the oscillator's pitch knob just seems to be set to the wrong value, but I'm sure it shouldn't be like that on purpose?

Some patches that don't play the pitch they should (from Rob Lee + others):
8 BIT oldschool sqr RF
8BIT Sawer RF
AR Arena of Trance RL
AR Fast Attack RL
LD Manco Lead TP
+ others

This must have been discussed somewhere...?

Hi Markus,

I know we should have spent some time on the tunings, at least for the new presets we'll be more careful on that issue. If we find some spare time we'll definitely fix all the presets.

BTW, just released 2 more fixes for hanging notes issues:

v2.5.4.152
1. FIX: Arpeggiator now skips MIDI note on messages for notes that are already in the arpeggiator's playing notes list
2. FIX: When a note on message is received for a note that is already in note on state, note off message should be sent to that note first

Pitches play just fine on my Synthmaster.. all of them do, none are submitted with errors. (all programmed and tested with version available at the time)

Hi Bulent,

I'm just checking the presets mentioned in the other guys post.. pitch of the presets are okay here. checked out the fine tuning/detune and others, no problem my end. I'll check some more today.

Strange! Of course I didn't think any sound designer would actually submit a patch that is clearly out of tune, I was assuming that maybe an SM update broke things at some point. Anyway, I was about to post some sound examples to illustrate what I'm talking about, but decided to update to the latest version (152) first, and now nothing is working any more...

After installing the update (apparently there's now a real installer instead of the familiar shellscript? :)), SM doesn't pass Logic's AU validation any more, and complains that a "Scales" folder is missing. I tried to create the folder manually, after which I don't get the error message, but SM just crashes Logic during validation. Ugh...

Downloading the full install at the moment to see if it helps. EDIT: It did :) The Scales folder is back with EqualTempered scale, dunno why it disappeared in the first place...

Here's a wav file that should demonstrate the issue I'm hearing:

http://www.insomniac-music.com/stuff/sy ... roblem.wav

It alternates between a straight slightly filtered saw wave from Omnisphere for tuning reference, and various SynthMaster patches, all playing a C4 note. I removed effects from some SM patches, otherwise everything is untouched. The patches are, in order:

8 BIT oldschool sqr RF
8BIT Sawer RF
AR High and Low RL
LD Manco Lead TP
AR Freedom Arp Lead RL
AR Magic Toy RL (this one is in tune, I included it just to demonstrate that it's only some patches, not all)

As you can hear, the patches play too high, some only a little, some a lot. I find it hard to believe that no-one else has noticed this, so it must be something in my system... but neither can I understand what it could be. :) (OS X 10.6.8, Logic 9.1.8 )
