That's what i thought.. i always email Bulent when i hear he's releasing another build just in case of any mishaps :-)

Rob's da man! Hope all is well, haven't seen you around lately. :)

Less KVR = more work.. lots of stuff happening Rob.. Synthmaster and sample packs, new productions/collabs planned this year..

Rob
That's good to hear :)

I have been pretty busy too, probably not half as much as you though. I'm making presets for a certain synth company, writing tracks, beta testing, etc.

http://www.insomniac-music.com/stuff/sy ... roblem.wav

It alternates between a straight slightly filtered saw wave from Omnisphere for tuning reference, and various SynthMaster patches, all playing a C4 note. I removed effects from some SM patches, otherwise everything is untouched. The patches are, in order:

8 BIT oldschool sqr RF
8BIT Sawer RF
AR High and Low RL
LD Manco Lead TP
AR Freedom Arp Lead RL
AR Magic Toy RL (this one is in tune, I included it just to demonstrate that it's only some patches, not all)

As you can hear, the patches play too high, some only a little, some a lot. I find it hard to believe that no-one else has noticed this, so it must be something in my system... but neither can I understand what it could be. :) (OS X 10.6.8, Logic 9.1.8 )
So are these the only presets playing like this OR is there a bunch more? I'm not getting this in mine. The presets your showing of mine are all Arps? Has the Arp changed lately? Any new features been added? I'll wait for Bulent to answer this one.

I haven't tested all SM patches yet in my library, but it could be that arps just happen to be in the beginning of the alphabet, and that's why I encountered them first. In any case, turning the arpeggiator off still plays the the sound too high, so I don't know if it's related to that. The vast majority of patches seem to play just fine, these out-of-tune patches are far and between (but there are still quite a few, it seems).

I can dive deeper into the sound architecture and try to find out what exactly causes the problem, but like I said earlier, I'm not (yet) that experienced with SM, so it requites a bit of learning first. Let's hope Bulent knows what is happening here. :)

Can't remember what version of SM that i did the expansions in but it was early 2012. Not sure how much IF at all SM features have changed that would affect any of the tunings of presets. We can see what Bulent says when he sees this.

Sorry if I missed this part of it, but does it still sound out of tune with an initialized SM preset against the Omnisphere example?

The initial saw wave (that plays when I open a fresh instance of SM) is perfectly in tune, as well as all the simple patches I have made myself. So seems like it's not a global thing that makes the whole plugin play out of tune, but some particular setting or combination of settings that only affect certain patches...

(And yes, I double-triple-quadruple-checked with several other plugins that Omnisphere was in tune :))

Must be some bug then.. we'll see what Bulent says. Only presets of mine that should sound out of tune (SLIGHTLY) are some pads where i use the Drift feature of the Oscillators (purposely). Other than that all should sound exactly as submitted back in the day.

Rob :)

I just tried the same with 149 which is what I have..on my macbook pro running 10.6.8, Cubase 6.5.4...
and indeed some are out of tune as Captain said.
I also doubled the omnisphere default with a diva default just to make sure the source is accurate.

I note I am on 10.6.8 too, will try it on my Windows 7 64 bit system.

Phew, thanks, it's always nice to know you are not alone in the world. :)

I'm not on a mac here but i'm assuming that patches should stay the same in either pc or mac?

I think they are the same :-)
but was just checking to make sure.

I am on 149 on both.

So some patches are not tuned to C? Are these the expansions or factory sounds or both? First iv'e heard about these. I haven't had the latest version until a couple of days ago so i don't know what the problem could be so maybe Bulent will know if any build affect presets or the way they're routed etc, no idea. Must be a bug somewhere cause i for one wouldn't adjust the pitch unless doing chords :-)

Just have to see what Bulent says then. Not sure why all of a sudden the structure of any presets would change and sound out of tune. Sounded perfect upon submitting early 2012 but we'll see. I'll stop making the other factory sounds now until i hear from Bulent about this in case there is a bug in SM.

Cheers

Rob
