@chokehold - Thanks for saying it isn't a hate IK post, but based on the many hundreds of tickets handled without issue and a minority having issues here, I'd say that it isn't a global problem yet yes we'll still look into why it doesn't work for some here. Apparently I can't stress enough that many hundreds of tickets are handled per week without a single hitch.

I'm not doubting your support guys are doing their work, don't worry.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:I can't stress enough that many hundreds of tickets are handled per week without a single hitch.
But there's definitely something strange going on (or rather NOT going on), if several encounter the exact same problems all around the world. And I can't stress enough that this problem has existed and persisted since at least mid 2010...
I remember whoever at IK it was I was writing with at the time told me something like "bad luck about the lost eMails, we're moving to a new support system, hopefully then everything will work without problems".
Well...
Maybe your eMail system is using some sort of over-sensitive spam protection. Many spammers use free eMail services, and if several mailboxes of the same eMail provider get blocked, some obsessive spam listing services might add the whole provider domain to its blacklist.
I use a GMX account for my music-related stuff, GMX is a free mail provider. I recently contacted Stillwell over the contact form on his website, he replied via eMail. Whenever I tried answering via eMail, my messages got rejected, so I always had to use the contact form to reply.
IIRC he wrote something about turning a spam filter off - and suddenly my eMails went through.
So you should definitely check that possibility.
And even though my posts in this thread are not intended as IK hate comments, I'm still pretty p*ssed off about these trivial teething troubles that shouldn't exist in a 'live' system in the first place. It's always an unnecessary nuisance when you can't rely on a developer to efficiently support paid-for products, and you have to seek help in public forums instead. No matter who it is or if it happens unintentionally.

Ah yes, I didn't mean to give the impression that we weren't looking at that. There was a change made since I've been on board but I know that options have been discussed within the last part of last year and forward for sure. Thanks!

Stay safe, Theo! Snowed under? That sucks, I've been there (I've spent most of my years in the northeast US).

Well, if this is the case wouldn't it be interesting to know what exactly the IKM control center does in terms of sending user data to third party entities?TheoM wrote:The plugins don't, only the control center does. At least this is my understanding of your first post in this thread. Or did I misinterpret this?TheoM wrote:no.

Support can give a detailed answer but we don't collect user data except for our access logs/analytics and are in fact far stricter and fully compliant (more so than many US companies, in fact... see privacy policy link below). In fact, the privacy policy covers all questions here so a support ticket is really unnecessary anyway.

Thanks for picking this up. According to the statement personal data can be shared with "...subsidiary companies and/or companies in which shares are held, sales networks (agents, dealers, collaborators and/or distributors), customer service and support agents, sub-suppliers and sub-contractors involved in conducting agreement / contractual or business relations.'Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:Support can give a detailed answer but we don't collect user data except for our access logs/analytics and are in fact far stricter and fully compliant (more so than many US companies, in fact... see privacy policy link below). None of which applies to Custom Shop data (as it is a simple web connection in which none of the data referenced in the section quoted out of context above is transmitted or even collected). So in this case that is irrelevant, and of course thanks for quoting out of context to make it sound as evil as possible. We stand by the fact that we are compliant in every way and are actually far more strict in our handling of any user data than most companies out there.FrankT wrote:Thanks for picking this up. Again, what you post has nothing to do with Custom Shop or any of our products as the data referenced out of context is not transmitted or shared in ANY WAY ln this context. I am not a lawyer of course, but the basic context and only elaboration I can attempt to give (as I am NOT a lawyer, thankfully) is that we don't have any subsidiaries that I know of, any "sales networks" applies to the rare times - years ago before there was a more automated system for offline auth or transfer, etc - where a dealer would help a user register a product, and the sub- part at the end of your statement would be things like any order processing/financial systems or payment processing data on the same level of every other company on the planet.... so, not so evil after all, is it, with context? Anything beyond this very basic and non-lawyer explanation can be handled via the following guideline since I'm not going to go into any further detail since that is for others to handle as their area of expertise:
If you or anybody has any questions about our Privacy Policy, feel free to use the multiple contact methods available to you on our web site (including reading the actual Privacy Policy in full instead of taking unrelated bits out of context on a forum post).

Please relax. I just quoted 1:1 from the IKM link you posted.
