OK, I'm not new (I'm actually somewhat old... and probably should know better...) but I've got a pair of MOTU 828s that have served me well for many years. You'll not find a more affordable way to get 16 analog channels in and out of your computer, no, no no. However, in an attempt to move into the FUTURE, I got a new computer. Window's 8. Yeah, I know. Sucker. It was a gift from my sweet wife and I didn't have a say in the OS that came with it. Anyway, the 828s are not playing nice with Windows 8. It's the oddest thing. In the end I found a work-a-round that gets them both working together pretty well, but it's a PITA. I have to power cycle one of them until eventually both "catch."

It's getting a bit tiresome. It occurred to me that perhaps it's time to move my audio interface into the same future (what most call the present) that my computer is in. My workflow kind of demands that I have my instruments plugged in all at once, so that's why the 16 analog inputs. Let this be a warning to all of you kids: Hardware is a horrible drug. ;)

Anyway... I don't have a huge budget but I think with some finagling I can afford $1200 or so. I'm looking at the StudioLive 16.0.2. It seems to have everything I want plus more. I kind of like the mixing board form factor (currently I just plug everything in and use Live controlled by a Remote 25sl) I'd like to hear opinions on this machine before I make the leap.
