Plus the fact that G-Force wouldn't answer customer service requests regarding a wonky re-installation about 3 years ago. I am a registered first-party owner with a serial number and the original disks. G-Force just ignored my e-mails.

Therefore, I have placed G-Force on my shit list and will never do business with them again. And I urge you not to do business with them.
All Mellotron models except for the M300 have pitch bend.

Why should we not have access to the best sample set available simply because you don't want us to? I happen to have experienced excellent customer service from G-Force over the years.

I like Sampletron, but there is something about the Artifake RedTron series that really appeals to me. I've used that on 3 or 4 tracks now, good for different styles of music.

64 Bit version of M Tron Pro is out!!!!! Free upgrade for registered users :) I'm happily using it in Logic X!

This brings back the memories :) The original M-Tron had a interface with brownish stains from coffee-cups and came in a cubic carton box looking like a wooden crate

I do love the M-Tron recordings but for the life of me I can't figure out why they need a dedicated VST. For this reason I painstakingly sampled every bank and made Kontakt instruments. Took a while and was tedious as hell, but now I actually use the those sounds more often because I find it much more convenient this way.

I've been eyeing the M-Tron Pro for a long time, as it seems like the best and most comprehensive set available. Also, as a long time listener to the Sonic Talk podcast, I appreciate Dave Spiers regular contributions, and he seems like a really genuine guy who cares about the quality of the products he puts out. I do wish the M-Tron tapes were simply released in Kontakt format, but I suppose the current arrangement gives them better control over distribution of the sample packs.

Bear in mind : the early versions of M-Tron (not yet pro) were released before Kontakt came to market

Indeed, two years before (2000, Kontakt was 2002).

M Tro Pro is probably my most beloved plugin. G Force is a one of a kind company and although this update is long overdue, I'm just glad it happened. I don't mind that it is it's own plugin, it has this incredible vibe about it that's difficult to explain. I have all of the expansion packs except for the just released 'Streetly Tapes Vol. 2'. :)

The Streetly Tapes Vol 2 has also been released by GForce. Both Vols 1 and 2 are far superior in sound quality to the stock M-Tron Pro sounds and to any other samples on the market, even better than the Pinder CD or the M4000D digital "Mellotron". They are about as close to sounding like a real Tron as you can get. Both volumes also contain sounds that no other sample set has, like Russian Choir, Gothic, Cor Anglais/Oboe Split, 12 Violins, a couple if Fairlight sounds, Glenn Miller Brass, Les Bradley Orchestra, Fender Rhodes, Moog Trumpet, Moog Brass and Ted Taylor Choir. There will be a 3rd set at some point, although GForce probably won't admit to it.

The Chambertron is also a pretty good set if you like the sound of the Chamberlin.

taijiguy, how would you rate your own set of Mellotron samples in relation to this and the original M-Tron Pro library?

Same here. Much preferred having it in Kontakt. It's such an easy instrument to have as a generic sampelr format because there's only one velocity layer. But then you can manipulate it more, stretch the range etc. And how about mellotron samples in Alchemy? Now there's some potential fun...

I can't honestly say I preferred the M-Tron pro sounds to SampleTron. I'm curious what teh fuss is about streetly tapes, but wish it would just be a Kontakt pack.
