I am working on a soundset for Moog Slim Phatty (and Little Phatty) - Audio demos included

Hi everyone,
around August of 2011 i purchased a Moog Sim Phatty (= rack version of the Little Phatty II).
Not much after that i started creating my own full soundbank with 100 patches for it.
Currently, after around 16 months, i already got those 100 patches but i am still working on improving some of those and/or replacing some with new patches.
At some point i plan to sell the final soundbank bit so far i do not exactly know when and also where i will sell it (already got some ideas about where...). It's even possible i'll offer it for free (maybe even at the Moog Music website) but let's see. If i visit the Musikmesse this year i'll talk with the Moog guys about it.
Anyway i have decided to create audio demos of the current patches and i have alraedy started with those. First demos are raw patch demos without external procesing. I have sorted the demos by categories:
1.) Bass sounds:
The first demo contains 9 Bass sounds:
Slim Phatty - Bass Demos 1
Those are short single patch demos. They were recorded into Wavelab Elements 7 (so no "real" host software used) and the WAV files combined later.
In some of those demos modulation like e.g. the internal Arpeggiator, Modwheel use and/or manual Cutoff modulation (first two examples) was involved.
[/quote]
2.) Lead sounds:
Audio demos of the first 40 Lead sounds (10 examples in each MP3):
Slim Phatty - Lead Demos 1
Slim Phatty - Lead Demos 2
Slim Phatty - Lead Demos 3
Slim Phatty - Lead Demos 4
On many of them the Modwheel was used to adjust the modulation amount.
I plan to add more demos soon. There are also more categories including e.g. Drums.
If i edit one of the patches or replace one i'll try to update the demos too. For that purpose i keep all the single WAV files of each example.
Have fun,
Ingo

I just updated the Lead demos with two more MP3s. Now the demos include 49 patches overall.

i like the bass sounds a lot and i'm about to listen to the leads. some remind me of Rick Wakeman's Mini Moog stuff for Yes and for his solo albums. some are a bit harsh, some nice and round, very 'moogy'.

Thanks for listening to those.mellotronaut wrote:i like the bass sounds a lot and i'm about to listen to the leads. some remind me of Rick Wakeman's Mini Moog stuff for Yes and for his solo albums. some are a bit harsh, some nice and round, very 'moogy'.
Some of the leads are indeed inspired by known stuff but AFAIK those were no available for the Slim Phatty so far.
Besides the factory banks and some free sounds from the Moog Music user forum there do not seem to be many soundbanks for the Slim Phatty and Little Phatty.
If someone finds a link for a commercial bank (i have not found one yet) he could post it here.
As already mentioned maybe mine will be published free too but let's see.

You asked for a link to other soundbanks. This is the only one I know:
http://marandblog.altervista.org/?p=387
Some nice classic sounds in there.
(Edited because of stupid typos...)

Hi,jsumners wrote:These are sounding pretty awesome. I look forward to the release. There are definitely not enough people putting out patches for this little beast.
many thanks. I'll try to work on them again ASAP. I'll also try to talk about it with the people at the Moog booth when i am at this years Musikmesse.
I'll also try to add the additional audio demos. So far those are from around the half of the patches.
Many thanks for the link. There seem to be only very few soundbanks for the Phatty out there.welldone wrote:I asked for a link to other soundbanks. This the only one I know:

Ingo - have you done any basic comparisons with the SP to Monark?

Yes, was able to get them sound almost identical.analoguesamples909 wrote:Ingo - have you done any basic comparisons with the SP to Monark?
Anyway the Slim Phatty is no direct Minimoog clone. The only thing really similar seems to be the filter.
Monark on the other hand replicates a Minimoog perfectly, both in terms of features and sound.

Now that the slim phatty is discontinued I doubt you'll be able to sell those presets.

I'm pretty sure it's only the Little Phatty that's getting discontinued. The Slim Phatty LIVES ON!Constructed Identity wrote:Now that the slim phatty is discontinued I doubt you'll be able to sell those presets.
