I'm thinking about getting a electric gtr vst but noticed some look pretty difficult to use and the demos you hear are usually by guys who play them as instruments in their own right. I want a decent sound but I might as well learn a real guitar if the vst is just as complex to play.
Anything good and simple? Just want some fairly convincing gtr fills, nice double chords etc. I don't need Van Halen wild soloing stuff that takes a degree to operate.
I see Prominy has a $15 deal on their light version but looks a bit difficult.
I'm more about sound and easy usability than the money though.

Vir2 Electri6ity
It is sampled at 48khz from real guitars with 20,000 samples per guitar there are eight guitars. It has a sort of A.i. that works out what you should of been doing with the neck of the guitar so you don't have to, so you can play it just like a piano like your used to. In your DAW you can set it to play chords so you only need one finger the ai does the rest. I do this when I play Van Halen's Jump so electri6ity with the left hand and the synth lead with the right hand. Electri6ity sounds far far better if you run it though a guitar amp sim the best is Amplitube just download the free version of Amplitube to start off then you can add the other bits to it by paying £15 per amp and what not with Amplitubes built in shop.

A real guitar pluged into a computer running through a guitar amplifier and pedal simulator.

Ignore the developer videos, take a closer look at some other youtube sources from users:

PRetty much all you heard can be pulled off with RealGuitar (acoustic) as well, sans keyswitches however.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW:
These guitars are uber-clean. You need(!) additional EQ or a good driver plugin in front of running these e-guitars into an amp. There are ton of tutorials about that on youtube as well.

Should you go for the whole pack (Acoustic and E): EQ and compression is essential for the accoustic guitar, a driver plugin for the e-guitars.

Don't let the age of the RealGuitar series fool you. They can still keep up with the competition on KSP engines. Though the learning courve is steep, but definitely worth it.

East west MOR, and MOR2 are easy to use and sound good right out of the box.
You get clean and distorted guitars sampled with the amps.East west fab four has lots of guitars too.Impact sound works shredage sounds awesome and is easy too use, no key switching, and it comes with a lite version of revalver.
You do need the full version of kontakt.
Kaboom, Should I change my project sample rate to 48 k,when using electri6ity.
Some people are using even higher sample rates, they claim to get smoother amp sim performance.

Yes, I am bumping this from the grave (2011), but while I was looking for a specific Musiclab video on YT, I found these three gems. They clearly show, additional to the links I posted earlier, what the Musiclab guitars are capable to do and not just sound plain fake. It's all in the play techniques and how to mix them.

First, a russian video presentation. This user creates a speed metal track with RealLPC. Granted, without the dynamic engine but rather with keyswitches. Then again:
(pity that he seems to advertise cracks though)

Then two video presentations by German user CerebrosMusic:

(Real LPC in combination with Vir2 Electri6ity and Ilya Efimov TC Electric)

So yeah. Three more examples of RealStrat and RealLPC in action.
