I don't get it....there are much sturdier AND more stable guitar stands out there.

Something to do with shrinkage, I'd assume.

Yeah, ditto. Funny thread title, though.robojam wrote:Not sure I'd use something like that if I was going to put an expensive guitar on a stand.

Not what I was expecting from the title.
I've got a couple of those (pic above) around the house just because they're easy drag into whatever room you happen to be playing in.
I was expecting to see a pic of one of those custom multi-guitar stands that pop up from time to time on the 'Let's see your Studio Pics' thread.
Cheers

Well, I thought I'd make a joke. The sad thing is....this is an actual stand, no P.S..
I swear, ONLY Roland could come up w/ something so gimpy, attach their name to it and attempt to sell it as legit

No, I've got a few generic ones as well. Honestly it's cheaper for roland to put the roland sticker on it and ship it out in the cash cow market then for them to come up with a new brand identity and market it as the acme guitar stand sitting next to the ronco guitar stand and the getchicks guitar stand all manufactured by the same slave labor in asia.

Looks to me as if the upright is extended way too far.
That said, it looks very similar to, but less robust than, my cheap On Stage brand stand. The part where the bottom of the guitar sits looks very flimsy.
