DESCRIPTION
iMini is a recreation of the classic 1971 Minimoog™ synthesizer, one of most iconic synthesizers of all time.
Based on the TAE® technology found in our award winning Mini V software, iMini offers a level of sound quality never before found on the iPAD as well as over 500 sounds by leading sound designers.
We have also partnered with the Bob Moog Foundation so that a portion of each sale goes to support their work in music education via the Dr. Bob Sound school program, making available the archives of Dr. Bob Moog and funding the dream to build the Moogseum.
The Minimoog™ synthesizer was made famous by artists and bands such as Stevie Wonder, Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk, Keith Emerson, Devo, Jean Michel Jarre and more. We now bring the features and sound of this classic to the iOS platform.
The iMini not only recreates the look and feel of the most legendary synthesizer, it does it with unparalleled sound quality. iMini is based on the award winning Arturia Mini V software that was created in partnership with Dr. Robert Moog himself, back in 2003. Thanks to this heritage, continuous research and refinements over the years, iMini comes with amazing sound quality and a large collection of preset sounds created by top sound designers such as Klaus Schulze (Tangerine Dream) and Geoff Downes (Asia).
What will you do with it?
First you can play the iMini's numerous sounds from the iPad keyboard. You can create your own sounds and start building your personal sound palette.
If you are an owner of the Arturia Mini V software on your Mac or PC, you can import and export sounds between your laptop or desktop Mini V and iMini.
You can also control iMini from a MIDI keyboard via CoreMIDI and integrate it into your studio or live performances.
But this is not all; iMini is 'Tabletop Ready'. Tabletop is a free iPad application that allows you to integrate iMini into a full studio of devices. With Tabletop you can build an entire song, with drum machines, FX's, sequencers... and of course the inimitable Minimoog™ sound.

Unfortunately, until it has Audiobus, it's a no purchase for me. It looks good otherwise though.

well,it seems they have a Tabletop deal.Even ACP or rendering to wavefile is not possible without Tabletop. So maybe the mini won't get Audiobus until Tabletop gets it...if ever.
Doesn't matter.Another Mini is really nothing that makes me sweat.Bring on the Modular and/or the SEM without the need of Tabletop and with Audiobus...then we are talking

I was thinking along similar lines. I have Animoog, and feel that it is a synth with a lot of Moog character (especially coming from Moog itself and having timbres made from various Moog synths). I wasn't sure if I really needed this one, but I'm confident I probably would have bought it anyway, if it had Audiobus. What I'm really curious about and looking forward to is the Synth 1 VST to iPad port that is supposed to be coming soon. Rumors have it that it will be even patch compatible. A patch compatible Synth 1 with Audiobus interests me more than does this Moog. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.Crabshack wrote:well,it seems they have a Tabletop deal.Even ACP or rendering to wavefile is not possible without Tabletop. So maybe the mini won't get Audiobus until Tabletop gets it...if ever.

Although it says it's not compatible with iPad1. If you reboot your iPad1 and only use mono voices and switch off the chorus. It works just fine as a standalone.

I bought it, it is awesome. I use a notation Xio and a synth station 25 triggering iPad onstage for synth bass (I'm a bassist). I've been using various synths, most lately nlog pro, but this will now be it until I get a real moog. I too hope it gets audiobus, but this will be my live performance synth bass now without question. And actually, I was using the iMpc to trigger samples last gig too, so maybe tabletop will go back on my iPad, we'll see. It wasn't for me before, for composition and recording at least, but if it functions as a virtual synth rack for live stuff, that may be cool.

This was a $10 no brainer for me. I love iOS synths a la carte as sound modules, but they have just addressed my second issue with tabletop by releasing this as tabletop ready. iMPC + iMini inside Tabletop = great potential for some decent material.
What a great second tabletop ready app. Might get me to actually use tabletop now.
Sounds great anyway.

If you are using Tabletop, this is a no-brainer! I've had the Arturia MiniMoog for years on the desktop and this rendition is great. Here's what you need to know. This was ported to iPad by Retronyms (the producer of Tabletop). Their first big port was Propellerhead's ReBirth. They started out porting other applications to the iPad and have sort of returned to that. After ReBirth, they made their own "Reason-like" product - Tabletop. If you can put up with the many in app purchases, its a pretty good music creator. The weak part was the in-built synths. The RS-4000 they have is somewhat terrible. The MiniMoog clone is a welcome addition.
If you don't have or want Tabletop, you may want to pass on this. The Mini sounds incredible but has no recording or copy/paste or Audiobus unless you use it with Tabletop (which gives you Audiocopy/paste, no audio bus). The bad news? The free tabletop comes in at nearly 1 GB in size since it includes every plugin which can be unlocked via in app purchases.
I happen to like working in tabletop so adding in the Mini is terrific. Finally a full-featured synth for it.

Bleh, exactly what I didn't want to hear. Looks like interoperability with other apps (in any form) won't be a priority.oldlibmike wrote:This was ported to iPad by Retronyms

got to say, this does sound pretty awesome. the layout on the ipad is also well thought out.
if this had audiobus support, or at least audiocopy, would be one of the best $10 deals around

Retronyms - if you're listening....this was a step in the right direction. NOW, what I really would like to see in there is a full Buchla or M100 modular.
Ok, doesn't have to be Retronyms. Tabletop ready would be cool and move that app a long way in the popularity rank if they had a an app done by reputable developer that let you put a skiff together with Eurorack modules and patch chords, its own sequencer, multimode filter modules, VCO's with at least 5 waveforms including Sine. Mix and match with cases expandable to encompass as many modules as you want to fit. A handy toggle that automatically moved patch cables out of the way when you just wanted knob turning ability. All the latest modules including analog effects.
Please, please, please
Doesn't even have to be Tabletop ready if they could make a standalone with Audiobus, but that would really get me using Tabletop more if it integrated.
Top these great starts of iMPC and iMini with a real Eurorack modular!
