The second is more expensive out of your budget.I think your best buy is the Equator D5 i will order them too this days but be fast because they gonna raise the price in march as Ted Keffalo (equators owner) said.

Yes, in Europe (Romania). Are Thomann serious? Can I trust them? I will make tomorrow some pictures with my room, I'm using a PC, so you can see how it is and if a 2.1 system will help me. I don't know where to put it and maybe you can give me some points.musikmachine wrote:Where're you based? If it's europe Thomann should have them, UK handinhand distribute them. Equators raising the price btw, got an email a couple of days ago. I'd go smaller, better mids and with a sub more accurate bass with control of crossover etc. No steep roll off below 60hz and you can just turn it off at night. I prefer the 2.1 setup, i only got a sub last year but i wish i'd done it years ago.
I'm really greatful guys for your help and I want to thank you!

And 3 years warranty, and very good policy when having a problem. They just send you a return ticket for the products, no cost for you.
Also ability to return non-faulty goods at the cost of freight basically.
And they are fast handling your order as well. Usually have order within 48-72 hours.
And thanks to Thomann, musicstores locally here in my country try to match their prices to be able to sell anything basically.
Look out for exactly which model of a product they sell. I've seen examples where Thomann have much more expensive models of monitors with spdif inputs and stuff. That made them €500 more expensive because of that alone.

Blue Sky is rather a boutique company. It's not the cheapest price I've seen, but shipping is a bargain considering it comes with a sub.
If you are looking to consider other options, go with something like HS50, or cheap Genelecs (probably too expensive) or Focals (even more expensive,) where you can add a sub later.
It depends on you, but if it doesn't go down to 35~40 WELL, not just in specs, then ultimately headphones for balancing the lowrange it is.
The Behringer 8" are really cheap and comes with life-saving lowshelf but shipping will end up being high (I would presume).
One word of warning: no real-port where you cannot cut bass level, please. This is the biggest mistake you will make in a small room.

ESI Aktiv 08 has a frequency response: 40Hz - 20 kH. Also, ESI are producing subwoofers too and I think I can add one later. Don't know what to do, that's why I'm asking for your suggestions.

Rear firing port that looks suspect, and frequency response spec given without decibel range, but bass roll-off but not sure what they mean by that. No further specs given on the manual. If you like the sound of them, only reviews of people who use them and you should be the judge. I really can't tell.nIGhT-SoN wrote:ESI Aktiv 08 has a frequency response: 40Hz - 20 kH. But ported speaker with port as big as that and spec given like that... I wouldn't trust it to do it well below 60.
Sometimes getting what you've heard already is the right thing to do. But you will either stuff the ports or have it at least a meter away from the wall.

What about Alesis M1 Active MK2, 50Hz - 20kHz? 6.5 inch woofer, 329 euros a pair.
LE: Behind where I am going to put them there is a courtain and a window. not a wall so I think this will help if the bass port is on the back.

How far? A window is not treatable, unless you want to replace your curtain with a heavy vinyl material that's used for sound treatment purposes. It will still bounce, and maybe resonance may be worse.nIGhT-SoN wrote: LE: Behind where I am going to put them there is a courtain and a window. not a wall so I think this will help if the bass port is on the back.
I always think port is best on the front. If it is on the back, you cannot get it anywhere close to the wall, while if it is on the front, you know what it's doing and you already have distance between you and the port.
Some people swear by M1. Again, in the end I think you will find in this price range, you are going to do monitoring on separate devices from time to time. Don't worry too much about the quality here, most out there are very good. Just look for possible adjustments and reliability issues.

The windows is like 40cm away from the courtain and the speakers will be like 10cm away from the courtain so 50 from the window. I think I could put them 10 more cm. Tomorrow I will take some pictures for a better understanding.

I will just refer you to this. I can't really advise more:

I usually find this to be the case.

My 2c, below about £500 there are few good options, most monitors compromise by boosting and cutting certain frequencies like the low end on the rokits or mids on the hs50s. So they compromise at the cost of accuracy, particularly in the mids where most of the mix happens. Larger ported monitors then have issues with port resonance and ringing and smearing further compromising the mids. A lot of monitors sound good for listening but not for mixing which is the last thing you wantnIGhT-SoN wrote:What about Alesis M1 Active MK2, 50Hz - 20kHz? 6.5 inch woofer, 329 euros a pair.

Front ported monitors are better ime as they allow you more freedom with placement and the bass is more directional but again unless they are very good monitors a smaller monitor is better for mixing, i wouldn't go below 5" (blue skys excepted) with room/eq switches so you can integrate them into your space.
So on the lower end 2.1 is better for a few reasons the main one been accuracy followed by flexibility with placement in untreated rooms. As long as you don't have a terrible room full of nulls and can add some bass traps a discrete sub shouldn't be too much trouble to integrate, you don't have to run it at high volumes and you can roll off the low frequencies below 40hz but try and match the size to your room, an 18" sub would probably not be good for you or the neighbors!
If you can't audition some the next best thing is to buy some from Thomann with 30 days to try, i think you can swap them 3 times (but all within the 30 days iirc); try a 2.1 setup in your room as there is no better way to demo it anyway. Take your time, getting the right monitors now will payoff in the long term and should see you good for a few years. HTH.
