Is there a way to turn this thing into a transport control?
It looks like it can perfectly fit the task, and all i need is:

1) a software to turn the keystrokes into midi(?), or into certain keyboard shortcuts, only when my DAW is up and running.
2) Painting the keys according to the action desired (play, pause etc.).

Any help with (1) is appreciated :)

Thanks,
Erez.

From what iv'e seen so far, most of the midi keyboards have play\pause\stop buttons on them, so they must be sending some kind of midi data when pressed, aren't they?

yup, you're right. if you have MIDI OX available you can read out what messages they send.
haha, unfotunately I don't have passport controls on my midi keyboard, which is the reason iv'e opened up this thread in the first place :D

google 'autohotkey generate midi' and find out.

what, like mention the ahk scripts which emulate a mackie control console?

naaaaah. you'll just ask me if there are ahk scripts which emulate a mackie control console.

for the records : i did some gui stuff with autohotkey but was not aware of its midi capabilities...

for the record, is that supposed to excuse you being lazy?
good boy :tu:
better than a lazy one, eh? :tu: ;)

Why do you need MIDI messages? Any good host should have customisable keyboard commands, so you can use it directly?

Doepfer has a contact to MIDI hardware device, any buttons could be connected to that.
