Using iPad in sync (midi / audio) with Logic Pro

Hi all,

I was wondering if someone can help me out to explain how to use my iPad synth apps in sync (audio / midi) with logic pro.
I just bought some great synth apps (ie. iPolysix, iMS20, Animoog). Is there any audio / midi device on the market that supports this?
I've read about the camera connection kit, but I'm looking for another more robuste solution. I know both the Alesis IO Dock and the Behringer iStudio but does these devices answer my question? I don't really have a clue. Are there any other usb audio/midi solutions?
Also i cannot find great tutorials or step-by-step guides how to achieve this. Really need some advice/assistance on this one.
I hope someone can help me out here.

I'd like to help you out, but in order to do so, if you could give me more information about what gear (hardware) you already have, I can offer you options tailored to your needs, rather than just give you a massive list of audio/MIDI interfaces and tutorials. 

For example: do you already have an audio/MIDI interface for your computer?

The more detail you can give, the better, as there as so many products on the market these days, it's mad! And I wouldn't want to recommend something that isn't going to meet your needs.

I have a RME HDSP Multiface with 10 audio in- and outputs and 1 midi in and 1 out. Further info: iPad 3rd gen, OS Snow Leopard 10.6.7 and Logic 9.1.
I'm looking for a decent midi interface to integrate my iPad in my DAW so I can use my master synthesizer (Korg M50) which is USB wired to my MAC, to play and record my iPad synths. My Logic projects are running in 24 bit mode so I hope I don't have to set this back to 16 bit and have no latency problems while recording the iPad audio in my DAW.

Well, it looks like if you want to get both audio and MIDI from your iPad into your DAW, the Behringer iStudio, or Alesis io Dock would suit your needs (it looked like the Behringer was vapourware for a long time, but it looks like they may have held off until they had a lightning version as well). 
They are both very similar - Balanced outputs, both MIDI USB and 5pin Din, blah blah blah - the main differences are the physical level controls on the top of the Behringer, and the fact that it can deal with SysEx - which the io Dock can't. The io Dock also requires a sleeve to be inserted for the iPad 2 or 3 - but these are both included in the box. 

If you can hold purchasing anything for a little while, I'd recommend having a look at the iConnectMIDI2+ as it's way cheaper, but I can't find any info regarding SysEx, and also has no foot switch input, but as you know, it's often a compromise. 

You're obviously experienced and knowledgeable enough to know what features are a deal breaker for you, although you will have to deal with some latency, whichever interface you choose - most of the time it's acceptable, but sometimes it's in need of compensation; oh yeah and MIDI clock from and to apps can be a bit hit-and-miss as well; oh and jitter can be an issue as well!
It is definitely worth all the little problems though, as most of the time you can do something about it. 

I think any of those three would suit your needs best - as they all charge the device as well, which is essential in my opinion.
