Hey guys, I've started working on an entry for this but I'm new to the OSC world and the rules are confusing me:
1. Any type of modulation effect like chorus, phaser, flanger etc is not allowed.
2. DAW effects are allowed, as are 3rd party effects if they are freeware and easily available.
I'm using Logic, so can I use logic's flanger? Those two rules seem in conflict to me.

No modulation effects, whether in the DAW or 3rd party. (or any other type if there is)

Hope it's okay... specifically, I was hoping to match Cactoos, so "Cash prize 1" = $60, "Cash prize 2" = $40, "Cash prize 3" = $20 in total.

@ Arcalium: I can not see your song in the OSC group on Soundcloud .
I loaded Tal-U-No 62 in Logic , it seems to work fine in 32 bits but not in 64 (i.e. no sound) Does anyone know why ? It does not really matter but it bugs me.

Although external modulation effects are not allowed, if a synth has modulation effects included, you are free to use them ofcourse! You probably knew this already, but I'm just wanted to make this clear.jsd wrote:Hey guys, I've started working on an entry for this but I'm new to the OSC world and the rules are confusing me:

Exactly, good point.
Ah sorry, then I misunderstood, will correct it now.
Anyone else with Logic who can check the 64Bit Tal-U-No 62 please?

Just found a thread dating back from June 2011:
"Wondering if anyone else is having issues with the No 62 and Bassline Plugins with Logic 9.1.4? I cannot use them at all. There is no midi or audio output"
It does not really help but it is a bit reassuring to know I am not the only one. NoiseMaker & TAL effects work fine in both 32 & 64 bits .Weird.

I have a qustion about fx use. Gating, compression and (vintage) saturation is allowed to shape the sound any further? Or is this considered modulation too...
Sorry if this might be a dumb question but just want to be safe.
Cheers,
Sebastian

·Gating (as Trancegate effect, is allowed, it would be the same as muting on/off the channel.Halma wrote:I have a qustion about fx use. Gating, compression and (vintage) saturation is allowed to shape the sound any further? Or is this considered modulation too...

·Compression is of course allowed.
·Saturation allowed always that the oringinal sound is not unrecognizable. So a bit of saturation is ok.
Waveshapers are not allowed.
Have a nice day
