Still, for me Ableton doesn't stand up on its own. I used to use Ableton and then mix on Reaper; I think same thing would happen...
It's all about the wavelets. I dream of the perfect additive synthesis.

The only skin that I can see anything on is Frost. All the other skins make me have to peer at the monitor with my eyes about 5 cm away !schnapsglas wrote:Are people at Ableton colorblind? Just saying, every new version seems to look more grim and grim.

Will wait until the weekend to download.
at this thread: every company gets this crap from KVR when they stress their servers - shit happens, so you're pissing into the wind when you complain here that the expected overload happens. Again. And it will happen next time.

Audio to Midi is just... not very good! slicing works well, but really, Melodyne, all the way. Maybe I will have better luck with percussion, but even for piano sources it acts erratic.
Alright. Percussion to Midi - 9/10.
Melody to Midi - 6/10.
Harmony? - 3/10. Really, that's the percentage it gets right.

It is OK. After toying with it a bit... I think I have matured enough to use something like Ableton which is usually not my forte.
Having said that, let's all wait for Bitwig. (Come on, didn't you see this conclusion coming?

Good to see Reaper and Bitwig mentioned in the same thread....

If you want to gauge an App it takes more than "toying" with it. It always amazes me at the release of a product the immediate drones of how it fails or surprise that it may work seems to always light up the boards.schnapsglas wrote:It is OK. I don't think anyone can prejudge this honestly at the moment(even as a beta tester).

No, you misunderstood me; what I meant was since I hadn't tried Ableton for a while, after getting some mature perspective, it seems all better to me to use. I am not talking about the quality of version 9 other than few specific features.CTStump wrote:If you want to gauge an App it takes more than "toying" with it. Well, it is usable and it's not like any other DAW has anything like it. But I hate that there are no sensitivity sliders, no real control. I feel a lot could be improved if you could tell the app where to look. But that seems to be what Ableton is going for, that whole Apple 'it just works' idea where the UI sort of insulates the user from the application. I also have no other application with so few 'options' to set.schnapsglas wrote:Audio to Midi is just... not very good! slicing works well, but really, Melodyne, all the way. One thing they mentioned is that it takes its cues from the warp markers and it helps to make sure they are on the changes you want detected.

Got it, didn't mean to single you out there just dreading what may come next from the disappointed and disheartened(Bitwig cats excluded).schnapsglas wrote:No, you misunderstood me; what I meant was since I hadn't tried Ableton for a while, after getting some mature perspective, it seems all better to me to use. You'll see a lot of disappointed users I think. For example I'm still using X2...CTStump wrote:Got it, didn't mean to single you out there just dreading what may come next from the disappointed and disheartened(Bitwig cats excluded).schnapsglas wrote:No, you misunderstood me; what I meant was since I hadn't tried Ableton for a while, after getting some mature perspective, it seems all better to me to use. A release candidate is not always the beta candidate however as far as what is found during the beta may be addressed in the release.ThomasHelzle wrote:Why is that?CTStump wrote:I don't think anyone can prejudge this honestly at the moment(even as a beta tester).
In any case given this is the day of release logic would dictate to give it a complete going over to make sure.
