thanks, I might do that (haven't done any packs or anything.)

Post

yea that was on my desktop, and since it takes all night to install all the packs from my external it was a bad move.

On my laptop however I just installed 9 official, started it up, then closed it, copied settings from the beta, restarted, and all was well

they don't have the pay viddys yet, but these small introductory viddys will help some people. (free)

BTW, do they have anything from abe's video wise, or is it just reading material?

Mine wouldn't let me install in the beta folder as some mentioned.. It wants a brand new folder or won't work

There isn't a replace? When automatic updates were not working, I had to do this.

Post

no I didnt see a replace on mine, but I dont think it recognizes the beta as an actual previous installation, thats why. Also I dont know if you should install it on top of the beta, what I was talking about was manually copying over your settings and places database

Post

I keep forgetting about that, that they want them separate. Anyways, I've got nothing pressing in 9 so I'm perfectly happy to go through everything again. Makes me feel like I got something new :hihi:

WHEW! I hadn't DL'ed the orchestra stuff yet, suggestion to those who can...

GET THE BOX!!!!!!!!

Just what audio to midi can do. It's a George Duke wav and then made into a very average sounding piano. The possibilities are endless.

Claims that it is just an animated gif have been denied.
It still has basically nothing to do with the actual performance headroom you have left, this would be way too simple.

For anyone having trouble getting their beta packs to show up in Live 9's Places, I couldn't either, but solved it fairly easily. I went in to preferences and changed the Factory Packs folder to another random folder and then changed it back to my Ableton/Factory Packs folder. The "Packs" place immediately saw all the packs that it didn't see before and began to rescan the content. It takes a little while for all the presets and content to show up in the browser again but it does eventually.

Zerocrossing: ;-)

Echoes in the Attic: In the beta, I had this problem with the mac version not seeing the Library on a Windows NTFS drive (makes no sense to have that boulder twice) and Abletons recommendation was, to drag the folders from finder into the Live 9 Window to wake up the indexer.

Why there isn't a manual update button only the said drunken AI from Betelgeuse knows ;-)

Cheers,

Tom

They don't have a bridge for 32 bit Plugins in Ableton 9 64 Bit

This is the new technology -.-
Everyone knows providing bridge for 32 bit is SO 2012. :D
I was doing to ask about this. WTF? So not only is v9 basically 8.5, it actually will be less useful to me than it's predecessor.

The good news is, Live so ubiquitous that it might get software devs to step up the process of porting their VSTs to 64 bit. Anyway, in the end I'll sit this one out... at least for the foreseeable future. I just spent months and $1000 on a new audio interface to get things right in Windows 8. I'm done spending time and money on music production for the time being. :?

@zerocrossing, you can still download a 32bit Live if you want.

Fwiw, Logic has a bridge (Yeey!), but it's so unstable that it's useless (Booh!). So I'm not very concerned with not having a bridge, ymmv of course.

Well, be thankful that it isn't looking like the website ;-)
Don't get me started. :x

They were at the vanguard of this new "clean UI" look. How did they get it so clean? Well they removed visual cues as to the functionality of elements. My current client is gaga over this new look (I guess he upgraded to Windows 8 ) and now he's complaining that "it's hard to tell what items are indicators and what items are clickable." Of course, early in the process I explained, "The problem with this look is that..."

Ah, thanks for that. Still... I can't see a clear reason why I'd upgrade at the moment... Glue is nice, but I have good compressors... is the automation that much better? I guess I should wait for the dust to settle and download a demo...
