sorry Dave,
i meant to say virtual midi would be a great feature.
(by the way, i use a cheap oxygen 49 as a midi controller for the ipad, draws its power from the ipad directly through the camera connection kit. no more gear necessary. would love all ios synths to have a similar knob mapping feature as the imini)

I tried tabletop again, running one instance of imini, one instance of iMpc, and 2 of that little sample keyboard they have in there (with its 2 octave range...). Just got the groove and parts I wanted, poof, app crashed, work gone, app deleted, nano studio still my go to for initial song sketches. I still think imini sounds great and will try it on tonight's gig again, but had some problems with it live last week which may or may not be the app, may have o do with other aspects of my setup. I will most definitely be getting the iconnect midi 2+ when it is released, I have a $50 amazon gift card I just received, so it's going to be held for that.
If you haven't tried the imini through a PA, it does sound great. Of course, if it crashes or ceases to make sound, that gets in the way a little. Hope they're working on the stability and not on releasing more stuff while it remains unstable. I did buy it within 5 minutes of release just by luck, so growing pains are ok, my Xio still does synth bass and other noises just fine...
Anyway, just rambling publicly, hope you enjoyed it in some way...

I bought this right away. The only thing I really don't like is the reliance on TableTop for recording -- there's just too much overhead. But all that's been said already. What I'm noticing is that certain aspects of the default patches are inaccessible. Take, for example, NU_StickySaw. That's a good sound, but I wanted to shorten the filter cycle. Problem is, this patch uses the modulation matrix for LFO, not OSC3. From what I can tell, the mod matrix is implemented in iMini, to the degree that existing patches can use it. But there's no interface to make changes: you're stuck with the patch's original mod source, destination, rate, and amount.

This was a nice update showing Arturia is listening. Audiobus and some midi issues addressed. I really like the sound of this one.

Yes, however I am still encountering stuck notes, at least I was when trying it with soundprism pro today. I just got home from a very long workday, but I'll try it with some physical controllers in a little while. I am happy that they're paying attention, I just hope it can become stable enough to use at my gigs.

Today I seem to not be getting the stuck note issue, that's good. Maybe having network midi and soundprism pro active caused the issue? Now the network midi is off and there seems to be no issue.
One request from arturia, it still seems to be omni in, which makes it impossible to have imini open in the background and use another synth in the foreground, imini still sounds with the other synth.
Audiobus works great, very welcome addition. Also, no more crashing when saving presets. So, I'm going to try this on this weekend's gigs and see how it works out. Nice job arturia! I look forward to using this live.

Bummer. This is the same problem I have with GarageBand. It really limits me from using it live as I have two keyboards controlling various hardware in addition to the iPad. I use iConnectMIDI where I can have any keyboard control any other piece of equipment. So no matter what I'm playing, it will still be picked up by iMini.

The new tutorial is really worth watching, not just for the new features (which I thought were pretty self-explanatory) but some old features that weren't well-advertised. In particular: engaging the feedback loop, getting the full LFO range, and adjusting the pulse width.

My question is when is the 2600 app coming?

Agreed! I'd buy either.......(though I'd prefer to get the Jupiter first). LOL!Wormhelmet wrote:

I'd like to see the whole collection done on iOS. As long as the made it sound as good as iMini.
Korg did it with iMS20 and iPolySix (hopefully more soon)
The iMini stands out amongst all my others really well as do the Korg synths.
There is a huge difference in being able to grab your iPad and bring with you a sonic collection that can be used in multiple ways or just to play and design sounds on when you are on the go, or lying in bed, or wherever, that non- mobile users just can't understand.
I can't see it hurting sales ever for real hardware or vst's. it's just a mobile thing that not everyone gets either.
Yes, a semi-modular with touch interface would be outstanding.
Really hope that's the plan with tabletop too. Make it more stable and give us premium plugins like Arturia can offer.
I know it doesn't hurt hardware because I never hesitated to buy my minibrute and pick up iMini. Minibrute made me really appreciate what Arturia is doing and iMini has been the reinforcer along with their listening to customers. Now I need that minilab controller for my iPad too.
Wow, I sound like a fanboy, but I guess I am on Korg and Arturia. These are really great times for synth enthusiasts like me.
