I'd actually support that option more than asking for a (promised since v1 days) surround version.

We have never said not to get treatment, some of our happiest customers are sitting in fully treated room and ARC helped them tune their room even better and more accurate than it was with treatment alone.
Definitely a cool feature request, You should post it on the IK forums for our whole team to see. Always carries more weight when IK users post it there than in emails from us.

Yes we could - but if we want to use ARC and REW together, we need to do custom routing with a virtual cable system (Jack for example) or if it's possible, within our ASIO driver environment. Not to mention that REW needs calibration wiht an SPL meter (which not everyone has), etc.andiw wrote:You can have that all with the free software 'REW'.
But ARC does the measurement of the room (14 points at least, well... in ARC1 that is), then does the analysing and "corrects" the frequency response. Everything is bundled already. Granted, you can see a before/after on the VST GUI, but it's darn small and it doesn't give you any indication of reverb times. A PDF render with like A5 pages for each channel (or both plots side by side on a landscaped A4 page) would give you a better readable indication of what's going on. Maybe even with an indication like "hey, on measurement 10 of 14, the one on left/back, showed me nodes at this and that frequency" (TXT form would be enough.
At least IMO. It's still not the holy grail, and ARC is a dumbed down correction system not a fully fledged analysis tool like REW. But it would be a start.
Example:
The VST GUI shows on like 200x100px two modes that were corrected. But it's hard to read "where" and how much. Let's assume one is at 628Hz and one at 1287Hz. But ARC's visual representation is moot, so all you can do is broadband absorbtion. But it still doesn't tell you at which reflection point you need to apply that.
ObiK:
I've never touched the IKM boards, so I can't post it. Then again, how much of a chance do we have to see that feature ported within reasonable time? If ever?

If you have an IK user account, you can use that same information on the IK forums, just FYI. Thanks

Maybe I should pin down all the ideas I once had and swamp your boards. But it's hard to keep track of 2 audio related webboards already.

Did I miss something here? Is the upgrade now $75, or is he talking about the current upgrade minuse 25% in Jampoints?bigjerome wrote:Probably since the reviews have been so favorable that upgrading is a "no-brainer", especially at US$75
Thanks

I believe he is talking about the amount after the 25% reduction in price when using Jam Points.BERFAB wrote:Did I miss something here? I posted the idea for exporting ARC analysis as PDFs on the IK forums here: http://www.ikmultimedia.com/forum/viewt ... =14&t=4357
Please feel free to add to the topic, even if its just a "+1 I would find this very useful."
Glad so many here agree it would be helpful, and hopefully with enough support IK will implement it!

Now's the time to pull the trigger on the ARC 2 upgrade if you haven't yet.
Friday is the last day for the introductory pricing.

Hi - digging up this old thread - it was very informative and helpful in making my decision to buy in.
Just getting started and so far I'm generally pleased with the results from ARC2. But i've got a couple of questions / comments .
Before using ARC I spent a week moving things around and measuring with REW and ARTA, using a calibrated mic (Dayton/PE). So I know what the sonic signature is of my room is. Even with over a dozen 2'x4' Traps (some Real, some homemade OC), my small studio still has a pretty clear -7dB null around 90Hz. So at this point ARC2 should be a cost effective solution for cleaning up the rest.
ARC's measurements look (in that tiny graph anyway ) very similar peaks and dips to the other programs, so thats encouraging.
I'm using Cubase, so I put ARC on a separate Control Room / Monitor output channel. This way its not in the Stereo mix bus at all. Thank goodness - that would mess with the overall levels of an existing mix already tweaked with compessors etc. With Correction On, it requires a trim of -6dB to avoid clipping.
1) While the sound is generally clean, I've noticed a certain wierdness on a few bass notes. Like its competely out of phase and alternates from one eardrum to the other (very annoying). As soon as i turn correction off , the wierdness is gone. I've also noticed that correlation meters before and after ARC are different. "After" registers more towards the 0 , and further away from the +1. I never really any paid attention to this meter before, but is it confirming that something is going on with the L/R phase?
What can I do to minimize this? (and why does it happen?
I wish there was a way to see exactly what ARC / Audessy has in its brain. I agree with those who suggest that an "Advanced/Pro" version is needed. Ya gotta love how simple it is use, but the lack of adjustabilty, even for simple things like the measurement countdown, is too limiting.
I think you should be able to, at the very least, control the range over which it affects. (Like the full bass compensation option, on steroids).
Why not a "fix my bass only (don't mess with rest)" option?
Ideally: a full GUI display of all the settings with modifications.
2) I'm still unclear on how they are so sure that one size (or 2) fits all on the mic calibration. Out of curiosity, I compared the response to another similar calibrated mic (Dayton) i used in REW etc. That one shows a typical +2 db rise in the upper mid. But by comparison the ARC mic dropped off by at least 4db at 10K. Now if this is whats really expected by the builtin calibration, thats fine.
But is that really the correct calibration for this mic? it just doesn't seem typical (i also had a calibrated behringer for a while). Anybody have any insights?
I don't see why they can't use individually calibrated mics - I bought mine for $48!

Thank you for the suggestions. To answer what I can at this point: 1) There should be much-improved handling of low end in ARC System 2 so I'd suggested if you haven't remeasured that you may want to try that and/or contact support for some direct troubleshooting to see if there's something going on. Support can be reached at http://www.ikmultimedia.com/support and 2) It is far more effective to offer a specific microphone than deal with an added layer of running a lot more calibration/tests for 3rd party microphones (not to mention the support issues that would definitely multiply quite a bit due to this). If you are seeing issues due to what you expected from the included microphone, it would again be best to speak directly with support. Thank you.
