Yeah, for the first time ever I did that with K8. Will probably go for 9, though, despite the lack of the real big one, ie Reaktor 6; there's enough Konkat stuff starting to creep out thats Kontakt5 based...robojam wrote:Not sure it's essential stuff. Might hold off on a version before upgrading.

How does an upgrade work from Ultimate to Ultimate?
So one upgrades, then is stuck with two HDD's?
Surely they then cant sell the old one.

As opposed to upgrading from any other version of Komplete and being stuck with a case full of DVDs?Mushy Mushy wrote:How does an upgrade work from Ultimate to Ultimate?

If you're sure you'll never need it again, you could probably wipe the old hard drive and use it for storage. After all, it is a nice, fast solid state drive...
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

Oh, and lets just say it now. Current cheap Komplete 8 deal ends on the 26th March, Komplete 9 available from the 27th March.
Dont pick up K8 now and then complain when the next version comes out a couple weeks later.

That will make it worth it though if you don't have 8.whyterabbyt wrote:Yeah, for the first time ever I did that with K8. I skipped 7, so 8 was a good update, but hopefully 10 (can't believe I'm doing the KVR thing and starting to think that far ahead...) will be a good update for some of those things not making it into this update *cough* Reaktor 6 *cough*

they need a va synth since they dropped pro53 and just try surfing through 11,000 patches for a lead tone on all those synths. Seriously I listened to the demos online at the NI site and its virtually impossible to find something that truly fits in that category among their demos. Fruity Loops has tons of lead tones promulgated in their demos but not NI.
They have lots of samples of dub step and weird noises though and if I were into that more I'd be happy but I want to hear classic rock sounds like
synthmasters Nori produced. If they can add that to their arsenal then I would consider it.
The drums are a step behind the other drum vsti's
Their guitar fx are top notch for clean tones but suck on leads as well when compared to other amp sims let alone an axe FX or the real deal and I already have podfarm. The bass vsti's s are cool and I do need that as well as an organ sound source but VB3 is only $50 for that.
The Rick bass is cool sounding and if I get that maybe it would justify spending the rest considering I can use some of the other stuff for weird sounds and backing pads and of course the organs. Kontakt seems like a pain to learn to use. Piano isn't something I need to play in my music and if the drums perform better than I think that may be a blessing.
I guess I'm on the fence and a synth that would play leads worth a damn and compete with other VA synths might make me want to take the plunge.
Till I see something like that and the rick bass as part of regular komplete I think I say pass and go for stuff that excels at what it does instead of buying a product that has a lot of stuff that it does half ass.
When demos show me crap I won't use its kind of hard to expect something else more than crap and I don't know why they even bother putting up a web site if its going to advertise the crap ideas people use their product for.
Seriously they should get rid of a lot of their synths all they do is fart belch and weez. How about something more useful in commercial music like a VA synth that can scorch out some decent lead sounds?
How about developing a bit more content for studio drummer EZ drummer has a lot more in the way of midi grooves. They certainly don't account for those of us into Rush and Dream Theater who need monster drum kits and I don't see any roto toms?
Bass wise the market is weak anyway but since I own a bass and play I can always so that myself.
They definitely need to upgrade the guitar amp realism. For some reason I just don't like their tone maybe there is a secret to getting a decent lead tone with their product. Maybe if they had a better library of tones created by guys who actually played decent leads.

Curious if they got the filter envelope right. The voltage accumulating filter envelope is about as important to the minimoogs character as the filter itself, so if they want to call it an emulation, it better be there...

That can for sure be done using Reaktor Core, I'd say.ENV1 wrote:Curious if they got the filter envelope right. The voltage accumulating filter envelope is about as important to the minimoogs character as the filter itself, so if they want to call it an emulation, it better be there...
