so which of the valhallas should i compare to eos when i only want to buy one? are they even comparable? eos seems to have this nice visual feature, where you can use the cursor to alter the reverb visually!valhallasound wrote:I programmed the audio algorithms in Eos. The Valhalla reverbs all use different algorithms than Eos. ValhallaVintageVerb has the closest match in parameters, but the algorithms don't have much in common with Eos.cyphersuit wrote:so which of the valhallas should i compare to eos when i only want to buy one? are they even comparable? eos seems to have this nice visual feature, where you can use the cursor to alter the reverb visually!valhallasound wrote:I programmed the audio algorithms in Eos. Hey Sean can you say what inspired the name for the sanctuary algorithm? Just wondering because it looks like the only one not using one of the classic algorithm names.
Has anybody ever really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

The internal name for this algorithm was originally EMT2500 (I have code with that name going back several years, although I didn't use that code in this plugin), which I then changed to Rev2500. However, Sknote announced his Rev250 plugin a while back, so I needed to change the name to something else. Logan's Run came out in 1976, as did the EMT250 (the very very loose inspiration for Sanctuary), so it seemed like a good fit.

I'm sure that the kids can find Logan's Run at their local video store. VHS or Betamax, their pick.ftech wrote:Oh no! Logan's Run references...........

The only thing I remember from Logan's Run is Jenny Agutter (and all the other babes in skimpy, almost transparent clothing).
Just downloaded VVV demo again and will check out Sanctuary.
Cheers!

I'm absolutely fascinated by scifi that deals with future scenarios. The idea of how the society is run and all the effects of trying to be "perfect" is really great. Too bad people only get lost in the visual (which I believe to be excellent for it's time)
I'd like to mention my favorite aspects, but I don't want to get all HPC like SOMEONE did

Definitely Betamax. It's more analog. Gives you authentic real time uncontrolled pitch modulation bending and the visual/GUI gives you analog randomly generated wavy fuzzy white/grey/black lines that randomly appear up and down the TV screen (there is a TRACKING button there for decoration, because it never fixed those analog glitches). If you want the real deal analog vintage 80s mode experience, it is best to watch that movie on a beatup Betamax copy in a dodgy almost about to break and eat the tape Betamax player, on a standard square tube TV that is only 20 inches big at most, with the colors out of sync. I remember always being nervous when you hit the REWIND button at the end of a tape, because it sounded like the machine was about to short circuit, overheat and eat the tape, spewing it out in a cloud of black smoke. "BE KIND. REWIND" was the slogan on at the movie rental storesvalhallasound wrote:I'm sure that the kids can find Logan's Run at their local video store. VHS or Betamax, their pick.ftech wrote:Oh no! I think I still have a Betamax player in my basement somewhere, with a collection of taped from TV movies (1 channel of HBO on analog cable with a small black set top box that had one numbered click dial only to change the channel, and no tv/cable remote control) , such as Jaws and ET. Being able to get that one and only movie channel (being HBO) at the time was super premium envious cable TV access. Just like saying you had a home entertainment center with *gasp* one of those fancy new expensive CD Player things.
