Dave, do you already have a picture of the GUI? I would be very interested in this...

You don't need to see the GUI all you need to know is it parted the frequencies and cured ill mixes without chemicals. No proof required, none believers will be stoned to death.

Not to get too pedantic, but the 1073 (or other 10XX) has a separate line input with its own transformer. Though, padding to the mic in can give a different sound, depending on the gain, etc. I get what Dave is talking about, but from my experience, they're usually used as a tracking pre from the mic in with a mic or DI box, or as a mix EQ from the line in.

If someone were to buy equick and equality right now what kind of special would that person get on equalibriam?
Would the discount be worth it, if all we really wanted was the new EQ?

This thread is a little premature, some of these factors haven't been determined yet. We're working constantly to get to beta, and we're really close, but the time Dave spends on these threads move the release date further away - it's just time he could of been coding instead of chatting about transformers, valves, phantom aliasing, etc - all things that shouldn't concern him right now. Dave's easily distracted, but we all want the same thing - to have the final release in our hands as soon as possible.
GUI shots will come soon and looks pretty familiar; you could easily mistake it for EQuick in the right mode.
Discounts - again, we haven't fully determined this yet. We always structure things so our most loyal customers get the best deal; I'd expect that to continue.

OK KO. Since Dave was forced to leave his own party (that he requested, by the way), here's a rerun/repeat from previous thread. Yes, I feel somewhat vindicated now:
antithesist wrote:KO: I wrote a whole long thing thinking the reason was one thing, which is still valid. But I'll spare you that, at least for now. When I was trying to draw that treatise to a conclusion, it occurred to me that, in most cases, I like some amount of gain/Q interaction when using equality. But, that setting is usually a compromise since it's global for all the bells. It's sort of like if the shelf shift were always the same for both high and low. I know, that does something though, something that can't be done without the shift control. Well, I guess it's about economy. If there were separate GQI controls in those nice open spots in the slope/shift row, I'd take a guess at Q and GQI settings based on how peaky I want the band to be as I increase the gain. It's just not the same as setting only the Q. I like the Q to change when I change the gain. It's kind of like key follow on a synth filter. Sure, I could probably play a lead and turn the filter knob to brighter as I go up and darker as I go down. Anyway, I guess the answer is because I like it. It would be nice to have bell asymmetry per band as well. But hey, you take what you can get where you can get it.Krzysztof Oktalski wrote:Inicidentally antithesist, on the subject of Gain/Q interaction - why would you like to see it per band? It doesn't really do anything, we're wondering whether gain/q interaction really has any relevance in the digital world at all. Why do you need to be tricked into different relationships between the 2? I think in the long term it can only act as a distraction or a piece of misinformation as regards how the interface and the output relate; changing that per band surely means making it harder to predict the behaviour of that band. What say you?

He's literally sitting right next to me. Every time I open up KVR I get disapproving looks.
He's scary when he's angry.
I still want to sit and chat about EQ... but he is right, I'll never actually finish the damn thing if I don't get my head down. It's SOOOOO CLOSE NOW. And it's driving me a little loopy
@antithesist - not only can each band be from a different unit/design/style, the DMG peak type has it's own GQI control per band.
Dave.

@Antithesist
Well, you've got all the gain/q interaction you could want now, it's pretty much just as you described. Dave loves GQI, because it gives him something else to model, whereas my feelings are pretty much what I wrote before. Horses for courses - neither Dave nor I are every user (I'm pretty sure Chaka Khan wasn't every woman either) and we try to give folks what they want.
Don't get me wrong, I wasn't knocking the thread - I was having a go at Dave's need for distraction in times of difficulty! He stopped talking about EQuilibrium ages ago and moved on to his favourite subject, EQ's as a whole (and then preamps, reflective impedance, etc) - and that's a dangerous thing for Dave. I'm merely trying to ensure he finishes the EQ just before losing his/my mind, because that wouldn't be a strong look!!
I'm sure he'll rejoin the party in earnest the soon as he's got it to beta and we've got answers for some of the questions raised here.

OK, I was just letting this sink. Since others are bumping, why not? Let's try to keep it down, though. Dave's trying to work.
DG/KO: You guys are good sports, thanks!
Regarding purchase: I'd buy in now, as a gamble (ha) on the exchange rate. It's still about 1.5 USD to GBP. Sure, It might head back even lower, but I'd take that chance.

Haha. Krzysz has left this window logged into KVR.
Hrmm... what shall I post? Something scurrilous. Any ideas? We can pin things to him later. It'll be great.
He's actually working on something right now, so I'm sat doing evil.
Anyway, all is going well. Just the setup wizard, and any last minute fixes to go now. That and the manual.
Question: How important is internationalization?
