Thanks lkjb,
This eq definitely sounds interesting and it's easy to make everything sound better.
Is there anything you could share about the technology behind this (non programmer point of view)?

I have another question.
It seems to me that the gain values are not shown in dB range? I find that 0.5 boost is often enough with this eq and in real world that must be several dB's. My question is, what is the thought behind the "mastering" setting? When you activate it, the gain becomes very coarse and smallest value you can dial is +-1. And as we are speaking about several dB's (at least in boost side), it feels a bit too 'coarse' for such fine tuning as mastering is.
Thanks again. This plugin is definitely a keeper.

It refuses description, allowing only the vague approach of adjectives: dark, light, raw, angelic. Who or what is making these noises? Where are they coming from and what do they point to? What kind of entity can leave such a troubling sonic remnant?

Greetings resistant, resistent wrote: About your assumption - I have to partially negate it. I've checked luftikus in the Plugin Analyzer. +0,5 db is in fact +0,75. With the keep gain parameter on +0,5 is +0,3. In Masteringmode +1 is indeed +1,6 but again - with keep gain on +1 are +0,75. I assume this behavior is a part of the circuit luftikus is modelled after.
You are correct that boost of 0.5 won't translate to 'several' dB's of gain. However I can't see any resemblance that the value you dial has anything to do with dB scale. For example, I dial 0.5 for 2.5Khz band, I get about 1.45dB boost.
with 1.0 I get 2.6dB boost. Going to my original question about mastering mode, the smallest gain you can dial is 2.6dB (for 2.5K band). It seems however, that other bands behave slightly differently.
I don't think you should judge the final boost amount with keep gain on. That just compensates the volume, not the boost amount. If you compare the boost with nearby frequency that is not affected, you still get same 2.6dB or what ever.
This is still not a complaint, just asking for feedback from developer

The scales aren't in dB but rather an approximation to the hardware unit. Also, the boosts are generally larger (up to about 10 dB) than the cuts (hardware about 3 dB and about 4.5 dB in Luftikus due to the implemented cut extension).
The "Mastering" mode is a bit a joke about mastering stuff having stepped potentiometers (which is needed for better reproducibility) resulting in wider steps than an actual potentiometer. It should also roughly resemble the hardware's steps.
About the EQ's functionality: The fixed bands are all bell or high shelf filters with boost of about 15 dB that are applied in parallel. The gain simply controls the band's volume. This is also the reason that the "flat" response isn't really that flat. As a bell or high shelf won't remove "unnecessary" frequencys like a band pass or high pass a band gain is accompanied by an overall gain.

Thanks for this freebie!
In Cubase 6.5 x64 I noticed that using the Cubase bypass button, the plugin actually is not bypassed at all. More people experiencing this?

About bypassing in Cubase: afaik the bypassing should be done from the host in VST2 but I don't have Cubase at hand to test. Is this only in Cubase/64bit or also in Cubase/32 bit?
@resistent: The GUI looks nice, thanks. I got another suggestion for a GUI via mail but wouldn't mind including a switchable GUI (e.g. let the user decide what GUI to use) if this is OK for you and the other designer (need to check).
Generally, I would need a png of the background image and the sliders/switches as image strips (like knobman exports).

Thanks for the good work!Since this is a work in progress, an oversampling option is always nice to have.

I like the original GUI to be honest. As soon as I saw it I knew it was going to sound good. All the real gangstas know what I'm talking about.
Has anybody ever really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

Not an RG, OG, etc., but I agree 100%. Please keep the original GUI (OGUI?). Thanks!@midnight wrote:I like the original GUI to be honest. As soon as I saw it I knew it was going to sound good. All the real gangstas know what I'm talking about.
