For those of you working with Ableton Live 9 Intro edition.. What is the VSTi track count?
In version 8 there was 4 VSTi tracks max per project and 8 total tracks max; 4 VSTi and 4 audio.. slim.
The comparison for v9, however, states 16 channels total.. makes no mention of VSTi or otherwise.
So please explain what we have here.. since Ableton don't seem to directly address the question.

My guess is that it doesn't matter what kind of instruments you use in your midi tracks.

I asked the same specific question in an email to Ableton, and they sent me a link to the comparison chart. I asked the question on the Ableton forum, and no one knew specifically there either. I think they're focused on selling the full program first. I have Live Lite with a 4 VSTi and 8 track limit. If we had a 16 VSTi and 16 track limit, I could see buying Intro.

Exactly the point of this thread!sl1914 wrote:We'd get the quickest answer if some Intro user would test this.

Yes. It is also quite possible there is a limit.rod_zero wrote:It is quite possible there is no limit.
But until we get someone who owns the product to test, we will never know.
So can we please stop guessing and find someone who has the answer?

It's apparently not possible for me to upgrade my Live 8 Intro license to Live 9 Intro or I'd have been able to tell you. The Ableton shop only has options for going to 9 or Suite.
Maybe it'll be a free upgrade, considering that it has broken backwards compatibility.

It's funny because I can't upgrade from lite to intro... but I can buy it for less than any upgrade they've offered me. The question is, do I buy intro 8 for $69. or intro 9 for $119. Hmmm...

Save yourself 20 dollars:

But yeah they purposely seemed to do that to guide more people into upgrading to standard 9 than sticking with the lower version.

oh, and once you do get that Intro 9.. load as many vsti plugins as you can until you get an error message.. then please report that value.
