Do be aware that any phase shift is Static- so if there is anything going on, you'll hear it the instant you sum the mics!

billcarroll wrote:Here is an EQuilibrium preset for the SSL 4000 E-Channel based off default settings on the Waves version. I just tweaked the 4kg that was in Units.

I have no idea yes how the curves match up, or how close the high and low pass DMG filters are to the SSL but I'm going to keep digging.

Download it, tweak it, fix it, repost it :)
Late last night, setting up the 4kg with the default settings of the Waves E-Channel somehow made sense?!

Let's try the Waves G-Channels default settings this time

http://cl.ly/1v131n06373T

To point out the obvious, which is not always that obvious late at night, the E-Channel preset above has the correct default settings for Q and Hz, but I'd expect EQ curves to be different, as in G instead of E :)

Great video from SSL on differences between E and G EQ

SSL's 'Lego Studio' Video Series - 'E vs G'

And the description from the SSL manual:

G Series:

The bell curve has a more rounded shape at low gains, and the shelf curve overshoots zero slightly at the base of the curve.

G Series EQ is more subtle and is generally more suited to instruments and vocals.

E Series:
The bell curve is slightly more pointed, and there is no overshoot on the -
shelf curve.

E Series EQ is more aggressive and is therefore better for removing problem frequencies. It is generally more suited to drums.

Note. At full boost or cut both curves are identical.

When I stop playback in the DAW the meters appear to hover around -90 and never clear. Is this intended?

Here as well.

Also, I'm getting a crash in Logic 9.1.8 with 10.6.8 when I have multiple EQs loaded and I right click on the analyzer button for different options.
Heya,

Could you possibly send me a crash report for this?

Cheers!

It's basic null test: Create an audio track with some audio in it. Duplicate the track and invert the phase on one. You get 100% cancellation. Now insert EQuilibrium on one of tracks with no bands. In all of the modes (except Digital+) you get a null. Now it set to Digital+, and you start hearing stuff.

I don't mind any magic tricks when a filter is present, but it shouldn't do anything when there are no bands in the EQ.

Oh, but EQuilibrium is only £85 to you. It's £150 this month by default.

Huh. Good fun, I'll take a look. My guess is a gain issue, I'll dig deeper.

This is, by far, hands down, THE BEST digital eq ever made IMHO. Kudos to Dave and the team. However it has a few bugs but hopefully they'll be sorted out soon.

Dave... I'm demoing and finding some quirky re-sizing issues with the GUI.

In Maschine, the GUI opens fine (to the size specified in Preferences) but if I select a preset (e.g.: TRK 4kG Parallel Boost, which has a much smaller GUI size) the GUI frame does not shrink to match (leaving a huge area of white space around the new GUI area). Closing and reopening GUI seems to solve this.

From that preset I quit Maschine and opened Ableton Live 9 64bit, loaded the plugin on the master and GUI box opened at the same size as last used in Maschine (so only showing a fraction of the 'default user' GUI)... again closing and reopening the GUI window reverted back to how it should look (full size default GUI).

Having the same non-resizing GUI frame issue when changing presets in Live 9, with the added problem of taking 5-8 seconds (and a spinning beach ball) between preset changes.

Hope this is something you can look into, am happy to provide screengrabs etc.

Cheers.

Alan

Is this your opinion or are you stating it as a fact? Cuz my statement was my opinion.

I'll second this re: EQuilibrium

Just bought EQuilibrium but it crashes Reaper.

Message sent (via DMG Audio contact), Dave.

I've been very impressed and bought it already. Thank you! :)

But i don't really know what the emulation names are for. What are the orignial hardwares they are modelled after?

550 = API 550
4k = SSL?
DMG = ?
