Yep...those features are coming in the next version. Not the playable keyboard, but the AudioBus and hopefully MiDI routing.

In my opinion, iLectric Piano sounds very well and offers a great choice of EPs (including E Grands, DX7 EPs and Clavinets) and effects. But Neo-Soul Keys is even more realistic and offers the possibility of creating your own sound.
However I'll continue to use iLectric Piano for my live gigs untill the midi routing and the option of disabling background audio will be implemented.

Soundwise this is the best electric piano for the iPad and even rivals my Scarbee Rhodes on my mac. The tweaking possibilities are great and well thought.
The price is a no-brainer. Support is great as well 8I sent 2 emails yesterday and got a response within an hour!!).

To make it a real killer app for live use and recording:

1. Audiobus support
2. Midi routing, at least free choice of midi channel
3. Possibility of switching off background playing though I don't know if there will be trouble as Neo-Soul-keys might not release the RAM space which is quite substantial and might make other apps therefore unstable.
4. An intelligent voice stealing algorithm as especially with the iPAD 2 playing lots of notes with sustain pedal held brings polyphony to a limit (though it's still quite playable)

2. Definitely a more comprehensive MIDI setup. Also. for some reason, it doesn't even register as an input with MIDIBridge. Does this plugin implement Core MIDI or Virtual MIDI? Does it implement the OMAC and Audiobus registries? (MIDI should be simple but in iOS it's become stupidly complicated).

4. I thought of the same thing last night. A setting for "Max Voices" along with simple "oldest-note-unless-key-is-still-down" voice stealing should do the trick.

I also have another request: I'd find it preferable to jump right into the favorite EP when the app is launched; that would be faster. And I'd prefer to change EP's from the EP GUI rather than exiting the EP and going back to the selection menu.

BTW, I've revised my opinion of the Wurli. It's actually very good but I've figured out the reason why I like the Suitcase most of all: the samples in each velocity layer are well matched and the velocity layers are well graded across the keyboard making the discontinuities between them very subtle compared to the Wurli and especially the Stage. I have a hard time pulling myself away from the Suitcase... ;)

Thanks for the feedback guys. We definitely expected more technical support than we are getting, which is a good thing and a testament to my developer and good testing. As it stands, we have not seen any crash reports in the logs and that is pretty remarkable, but we do realize things are not perfect. Here are the things on the list for next version update:

1. AudioBus, AudioBus, AudioBus....I have actual dreams with that word in my head...haha...that is clear.
2. Virtual MIDI (Possibly...Maybe not this version)
3. Ability to turn on/off background playing
4. MIDI channel RX selection option
5. Currently the sound cuts off when the iPad is in sleep mode. We will have an option to turn that on or off.

As far as the Stage EP. That is hit or miss. There are some reviews on the app store right now that guys say that is their favorite. The goal of the Stage EP was to bring that dirty, real life old Stage EP that you would play at home. In fact, it sounds just like my Stage at home, because that is the one I sampled (See video below). Some people like the uneven notes, and the intricate idiosyncrasies of what the Stage EP brings, but some don't.

The good thing is that these are not our only samples we are coming out with. There are more to come in the future and version 2.0 will have an unbelievable surprise.

As far as the iPad 2, we did in all of our videos say that the iPad 2 was underpowered for this app, although very capable and playable, it is still underpowered. It's like trying to run ProTools on a G5. It will work, but there will be obvious limitations. A voice steeling algorithm would be an option, but it may affect the streaming. We will look into it.

Now with that said, all of our videos were done with an iPad 2 and we do have an iPad 4, but we wanted to show that it was useable, but takes some planning.

We can also say that, to our ears, the iPad version actually sounds better than the Kontakt version tone-wise. We are not sure if its the filters of the iPad or the iO Dock, but it has a certain color and tone that is different from the Kontakt version. It sounds a bit more rich. The Kontakt version has 12-velocity layers on the Suitcase, and the iPad version has 8, but they sound identical.

Thanks again guys for your support and patience with the updates!

Actually, the newest music apps for the iPad especially audiobus combined with a DAW like Cubase and now this phantastic epianos make me want an iPad 4. I could give my current iPad to my wife so that she wouldn't lock my bank account :-)
I have to think about it.

Well, thank you for being so up front and responsive. :)

And thanks for the head to head comparison on the Stage EP. It's really convincing and I'd sure like to see other devs do A/B comparisons between real instruments and their emulations.

But on the iOS version of the Stage, the C, C# and D above middle C really stand out as oddballs like the off keys of the real Rhodes in the video. I understand the intention of the Stage is to be imperfect and I hear other discontinuities in the sample set, but IMO these three notes (likely the same sample) are just too drastically different. They really stand out in a lead line and even in comping. Again, I'm sure this is only true in the iOS version.

I've just noticed that in all three models some of the sample loops seem to be out of tune with the head. Some of them (not all) seem to go sharp towards the end of the key-down sustain fade. Can anyone else hear this?

Another weird sample found, this time in the Suitcase EP: 2 octaves below middle C, from C# down to the A, probably the same sample; the high-velocity sample sounds very weird, kind of "warbly", and very different from the ones above and below it.

BTW, should I be reporting this stuff directly to support?

Also BTW: got MIDIBridge working with it by just connecting the MIDI hardware input to the MIDIBridge output. It registers in NeoSoulKeys as an "Unknown" input.

Yes please send to Support so we can log the bugs.

Can you please add a keyboard to the app. Sometimes you just want to open the app and play wherever without midi bridging, external keyboards, etc etc
