I didn't read the key you put in until after listening. You should prob take the key out so people can choose without any influence.

I picked the Equilibrium 550

DMG is a pretty blatant ripoff of DMGaudio. I think Dave should sue Dave.

Is that... Sontec 250?
It's all about the wavelets. I dream of the perfect additive synthesis.

Can anyone explain how he pultecs work? I thought it would boost and attenuate around the same frequency, but that's not what it looks like it's doing.

The Pultec is just mental. It makes this weird resonant shelf.

And the high boosts are peaks, and the high cut is somewhere between a shelf and a filter.

You ever wonder why we talk about it like it's a bit special and different?

You have the graphs in front of you now :D

If I were me, I'd sue me too. Or something. :D

Time for another cigar, methinks.

Any easy way to step thru all the diff models? I know how to switch them, but it's dropdown menu everytime. Would be nice if we can audition all of them just thru single click somehow

Now have all your EQs (good on you Dave and team!)

Post

There is no doubt that this is the best and most fully featured EQ ever made. Respect sir Dave, respect! :)

Just checking out the demo. Without a doubt, this EQ is amazing. Love the interface. Time to dig in to the manual me thinks.

Lovely job, Dave! A fat cigar, well earned

Peace,
Andy.

Wow, the difference is indeed huge. Oh wait, no it's not.

I set up a couple of A/Bs by chopping up the +9dB version and....

...could barely tell the difference between any of them. I'm pretty confident I'd get 50% or less on any A/B/X test with either the Waves or DMG against Nebula, or against each other. I got the sense there is a little difference in the bass, to the advantage of the Nebula version. However, after overlaying spectrum plots, the only tangible difference looks to be below 200Hz and much of that seems to be stopband ripple.

If there is a benefit to the Nebula version it doesn't seem worth the additional hassle and CPU of setting it, picking the right curve and rendering only to find it wasn't the right curve.

I am of course ruling out the effect of sympathetic magic on the Nebula version from it having touched the sleeve of the real hardware.

Dave touched the real hardware, so his plug-in gets some sympathy to.

I'm afraid to try this. The demo license is sitting idle on my HDD. Can't afford it right now. What to do, what to do...
