I'm afraid to try this. The demo license is sitting idle on my HDD. Can't afford it right now. What to do, what to do...
Too late for me...
already installed

OMG what a sound quality! I expected to be a bit better but this is far from "a bit"
 ...I mean, what would I suppose to do now? I don't even have EQuick, suddenly want that less now..

I hate expensive software... but this is probably the best eq I tested so far...

Oh, just shut up.

I'm sure curiosity will get the better of me (besides today is my birthday so at least a little demo fun would be nice), but I already made the mistake of trying Compassion long before I could afford it.

I'm of a divided mind about time limited, unrestricted demos. They are great but it's a problem when you're not sure when you'll be able to afford something and it turns out if takes so long to get the money together after the demo expires that you can't really remember how you felt about it.

You can ALWAYS email Dave for a new limited time demo license.. I'm sure he'll deliver.

Cheers!

1st of all, Happy b-day!

2nd, I'm sure Dave will give you another demo license when needed, IIRC, there's a little hint on his website...

ah..bmanic beat me to it..

The Pultec preset in the "Gear" folder crashes the plugin everytime for me (Reaper 4.32, OS X 10.8.3)... but initial impressions on this EQ are *amazing*!

Yea, I already did that once for Compassion (and still didn't have the money for it). :hihi:

It's good to know that's a possibility for Equilibrium. Makes me think I'll do a first run through the demo soon.

This brings up the question before I burn my demo. I'm on Reaper too. Is anyone else having problems with crashes in Reaper? Is it only that one setting?

That particular preset is the most conspicuous & easily replicated example, but I'm definitely getting some general crashiness too

K, thanks. I may wait a few days then.

The really great knock on effect of this software is that it really inspires certain numbskulls (me) to learn about eq/butterworth/shelving etc... Been putting it off for years but if I want to use all that this plugin has to offer, I guess there's no other way.

I didn't follow much of the debate, since it's a load of stuff to dig through in this thread. But from initial looks of this EQ, I find the concept interesting.

If I saw that right, if you're musically oriented rather than "going by ear" alone, you can find a troublesome frequency, or say "wait, this bass note doesn't work right", hit on the particular key on the piano GUI and got the right frequency selected. The rest is just a matter of Q, gain and used filter.

This is indeed interesting for mastering purposes if only "one" particular note sticks out of the whole production.

Now... 32bands and linear phase is plenty indeed. If certain "bands" could also be changed on a dynamic basis (read: dynamic EQ capabilities), then this product would indeed be a killer application for mastering purposes. And I'd finally ditch certain other tools that weren't updated in years.

Yes, I do not(!) see this EQ as channel EQ.
But for this, I find the GUI a bit small to be honest. Though if stretching is possible, then it's okay.

I do need some time for testing however... Maybe in April.
So I'll keep my eyes on this one.

I'm afraid I have to take today off, or my brain will pop. Rest assured I'll be back on it tomorrow.

I'm going to spend the day in the kitchen. Here's my plan:

1. breakfast
Sous vide scrambled eggs at 72c for 30mins, ratio of 2:1 yolk:white, plus some grated applewood cheddar in the blend, Olive-oil soaked fried croutons, and a soy-lecithin stabilised balsamic foam (cliche, I know, but I want to try it)

2. Macarons

3. Cherry ganache for macarons above (I think cherries are out of season, so I'm going to use some jam, but this is ok since a cherry ganache basically starts with jam making anyway)

4. Going to try some Meringues, using Laduree recipe, and see if I can bake 'em right.

5. That's about as far as I've gotten. I'm excited, I'll take photos of my disasters and I'll post em up if anyone wants to see them!

Dave.

I had some nasty crashes during the beta but the final release candidate never crashed on me.. and I tried very hard to get it to crash.

This was on Reaper 4.32 32bit on Windows 7. Reaper on OS X seems to be less stable in general, at least in my experience.

The GUI is infinitely configurable! I see it as THE definite go-to EQ for almost everything (yeah, I'll still be needing the MeldaProductions Dynamic EQ).

Especially the Preset system is so incredibly flexible. You can make your own custom mini-EQs for specific purposes and then name them accordingly. It's very powerful stuff.
