It was 10 o'clock in the evening on a soulful, starry night
My guitar was on my left side, while my girl was on the right
She says to, "some Justin Bieber might get you your way"
I says, "Homey, he don't play like that", so I put on some Funk in A

So it seems she doesn't dig the groove that's going down in here
I could sense her disapproval as she whispered in my ear
She said, "It takes a little romance if you're hoping that I'll stay"
I responded with the volume knob, I turned up the Funk in A

Cause if the
Funk is right, and the groove is tight, then the only thing that you can do
Is to
Hang on tight, while the tune is dynamite, and turn down the light
and get your groove on

So I'm standing at the door as it's slamming in my face
I may have heard the starting gun but it seems I lost the race
So I find my little black book as I make another play
Maybe she will be the one that likes the Funk in A
