Does the Analyzer use CPU, if the GUI closed?

No.

And what's the difference between the eq modes (550, 4k, ox1,...)? Only the Q or does it add harmonic distortion or stuff like this?

They are precise models of the internal EQ circuits of classic EQs; since there are no distortion characteristics in any of the major EQ circuits internally, there is no modelling of distortion. Interactions such as gain/Q are also modelled.

There's a bugfix version due hopefully today, it contains a few fixes including the problem that you had. The version you've got now was a temporary fix for XP users - the new version is much nicer.

Wait a sec, I don't understand why ppl want both because Equilibium seems to take EQuick's place 99%

If I'm not mistaken (please correct if I'm wrong), EQuilibrium does have M+S, M and S functionality as a global mode, whereas you can select those modes on a per-band basis with EQuick.

This makes EQuick still worth having in my opinion.

Yup, EQuilibrium does M/S per band as well as global.

Maybe the per band option is hidden thanks to your choices via the wizard or something...

That's maybe the harshest thing anyone has said about it so far.

It was not at all meant negative. Actually, I even said that EQuilibrium takes the cake currently.

I tested so many free form EQ's with 24-48 bands that it's not even funny anymore. But AIXcoustic's EQ is pretty much abandonned, and FabFilter doesn't offer much more than EQuick or EQuilibrium. So DMG Audio is the clear winner here.

For other purposes, like plain and simple channel EQing, I still have Nomad Factory, Steinberg, IK Multimedia, Variety of Sound, etc. But for mastering and really surgical means, I miss ElectriQ.

DMG Audio might finally get some funds from me this time since IMO EQuilibrium is one of the best allrounder EQ's on the market so far.

Nearly everything you've mentioned is in EQuilbrium already (apart from dynamic and overlays). This is true of both of your posts, if you have a look at the manual or website you'll get more of an idea of what it's about.

A harmonic EQ mode is included? I definitely need to hit the manual, as I only played around with it without consulting anything. It's just that straight forward.

Though I did not see a sonogram mode, just FFT analyser. Not that it's "that" important, but still interesting.


A customizable overlay feature would still be nice though. But, we're at the beginning of this plugin's days. So there is room for more I think.

I suspect English isn't your first language, and that's what's causing these misunderstandings! Either that or you're counting the colour purple as a feature.

YES! Band->HPF/LPF->Harmonic; change slope for more harmonics, tighten with Q.

Right click on the analyser menu, set type to Spectrograph.

This is one reason I picked up Equilibrium, to replace ElectriQ and then some. It's like going to the eq curve super-market and picking out new curves. Some days you just want to do that!

Today after much research I have the pleasure to reveal a new universal truth -

OK... I own equality, equick, equilibrium and compassion.

What I would like to see when the equilibrium dust settles is for equality to remain a great product going forward.

How about porting the equilibrium engine back to its spiritual source i.e. put it into equality ( and equick ) as a pull down menu option - then just limit it to equality's existing curves and no modeling.

You could then have:-

equick as the "quick n simple quality eq"
equality as the "quality eq" with just standard curves and no modeling
equilibrium as the "1000lb chameleon eq" with all the curves and modeling and other the extra features.

More £/$ entry points for more customers.

Though I still don't get the "selective load" features. Especially with more than (say) 5 EQ instances. But this is a thing to test the coming weeks.



Now, there's only to wait for Dynamic EQ and Overlay features. Then this thing would be killer for all kinds of purposes.

No, EQuilibrium has updated algorithms, the settings on those presets most closely represent the DSP engine of EQuality/EQuick but they aren't identical. They won't be ported backwards, we think EQuality/EQuick sound pretty good as they are!

If I upgrade to Equilibrium would I need to additionally purchase upgrades of EQualty & EQuick separately to keep all 3 current for future versions?

No, if you upgrade you'll still own licences to what you've upgraded from.

You'll adjust I'm sure, it's all second nature to me now and I really only need 1 folder of presets, I just do the toggling using the selective load buttons. It's much nicer this way, because you can design much more specific DSP settings to load in selectively.

Well, I suspect hell will freeze over before you see dynamic behaviour in EQuilibrium, but I'm sure we'll make a dynamic EQ at some point, just not now.

With the overlays, send a FR in to Dave - any feature requests that have a few votes get implemented - you're the first person to ask for overlays.

Hi ,i also sent this to Dave via Support form.I get major crashes using the vst3 version of Equilibrium demo 64bit.Only 1 instance of the preset Modecs:Mastering.When i add a band and boost/edit i get a sudden loud distortion .Further editing results to crash Cubase completely.All well with the vst2 version of Equilibrium.Haven't tested 32bit version.

My system:Windows 7 Home 64bit,i7 3770k,Mobo:Intel DZ77BH-55K,16GB ram,Graphic card:Asus AMD 6450,Sound card:RME HDSPe AIO,Cubase 7.02-64bit.

Nope. Those are UI presets, to get you the UI from those plugins.
