I think June or possibly July is the current hottest rumoured date for the new Mac Pros.

It seems highly unlikely they would let it slip any longer than that, or yes they will be losing pro users.

Peace,
Andy.

FCP X! Finally. Not that I will ever use mac again, probably. Just give us that iPad5 so I can pick up iPad3/4 on the cheap.

I have been hearing this for quite some time now, it's always Intel's fault the next Gen. Mac Pro's are not being released. So what are they waiting for from Intel ? Some type of new Super-CPUs that will make us run thousands of Plug-ins on the Mac Pro ? or just a good excuse for Apple to take it easy, and slow as far as their Mac Pro line is concerned, while all the focus is on iStuff, and Laptops

Oh.. and Logic Pro 9 users have been waiting forever for LPX (which I don't care about anyways :hihi:

But all of this just makes me think that Apple is slowly shying away from the Pro market. Why should they bother with grumpy Pros., when they can sell tons of gadgets to happy, joyful consumers buying more iPads, iPhones, iTunes, Mobile Apps, ...etc.

We shall see what happens this Summer. If no Mac Pro's show up by then, they will surely be losing lots of Pro Users to PCs. Which is already happening as I type this post.

Cheers,

Haswell is Intel's nextgen CPU. It is due this northern summer. It significantly reduces power consumption of systems but offers only incremental increase in CPU performance so will be pretty handy for portables and desktops will run a little cooler. Apple will refresh when Haswell hits the market and probably launch their new range very shortly before the PC manufacturers do because Intel is their bitch.

It's possible that Apple management truly believe we're in a post-PC era. If they wait it out a few more months, Avid might be out of the picture and prosumers will inherit the earth. Logic X for iOS. They need something to prove that the Microsoft approach is wrong, and that an iPad can do whatever a Windows tablet can do. Or maybe they're just fumbling about without Steve Jobs.

That sounds about right, my guess is they release a new Mac Pro that's about half the size of the current one, and less power consumption/heat is the key to doing that.

On that line though I just bought a used 09 8 core Mac Pro with 2.66ghz Xeon's that outperformed my friends brand new Dell with the latest four core 3.9 i7 chip in it, so i'm OK with it. 8)
