We recently had a Gibson Custom Shop Byrdland at JRR. It had been built by now deceased Gibson Master Craftsman Jim Hutchins. My God was that a beautiful jazz box and playing it through the Limited Edition Suhr Hand-Wired Jim Kelly amp he was trading it for was an experience out of heaven.

I read that. I've often thought about a Heritage Super KB the only thing I don't like about them is the lack of a tone control.

Bump away. You do some nice work there, Hink.Hink wrote:Hink wrote:the baritone is done...Two p-rails wired with all four options (p90, hotrail single coil, humbucker both parallel and series), the middle pup is a duncan jb jr wired with an on/on/on series/split/parallel. So eletronically I have the bases well covered imo and then some, or as I call it "the swiss army knife" of baritones. The tone control uses and orange drop cap as well.
The body is alder, I could have gotten a better cut of wood but I'm not complaining...I really was set on the sunburst from the start. Note on the back (which I should have polished) is a double battery box so I'm 18v ready though right now it's only 9v. I want to play it at 9v for a bit then make it 18v and then determine whether I want a switch between 9 and 18v or just hardwire it 18v. I really like the contour cuts on the body both front and back (I need to take better pics of the back, you cant see the contours) and how it sits in my lap. (the tele neck imo works well with this body)
Before when I had the tele body this thing weighed a ton, more than a Les Paul but now it's much lighter and I even used metal pup rings. Of course it will take a while to get to know all the tones but it sounds great and there is a nice contrast of tones going through the options. The action is much better than with the tele body, the squier neck pocket was poorly done but this is perfect. Intonation was not an issue at all
It's tough getting good pics with my flash, I need studio lighting. But...

Posted it in the music café (which I've never done before). Its mostly my Scheter 7-string almost baritone (26.5" scale), Like usual I fully responsible for everything and it also makes use of a few ITB amp sims along with the big sibling of a new toy I've ordered in keeping with the longer than my scale for the time being theme
hibidy why you selling up man? I'll PM you soon my friend for a talk

I'm surprised that Kala doesn't do something like mix and match a ubase with a standard uke or guitar on to a single neck like an NS/ stick.

Thanks Barry dude, Glad you enjoyed it, 7-strings with and/or a longer scale are good fun for sure, Not just for the barrage of high-gain stuff but with a nice bucker in the neck and also a single even in the middle anything pretty much, Even on a 7/8 have the lowest string as a regular and the highest string(s) as additional high string(s)...etc.
As they are fairly popular with the whole 'djent' thing bringing them back after nu-metal gave them a bit of a bad rep coz them nu-metallers never seemed to use the higher strings
its probably a good time to hunt down one/keep an eye on the used market, Its all just additional sonic fun, A semi-hollow baritone sounds like a good idea maybe Warmoth is calling your name
hibidy you needs to hold on to the kids unless its to cash in to trade up for that Caparison you were/are destined to have, That I could understand fully but not selling up...I can't sell a guitar I have bought as there was a good reason for getting it and its more than just a bit of wood, magnets, electronic simples and a metal of some form.
I know I got rid of a Dimebag ML but I didn't buy it because I wanted it and traded it for an old Jackson which I did so such don't count, Did I ever tell any of you that I had an ESP stolen once btw? That don't count either
Still hibidy if it is because you are not happy/enjoying playing at the moment it might well pass so first sit on it, I can understand that you want them to be played/go to a good home
Anyway the new toy on order is one of these and on that track I used the head version:
http://www.laney.co.uk/products/product_details/156 - How cute but fully evil still is an IronHeart in 2 unit rack without missing anything but the bigger 6L6 output section that I'll have in a buggering bugera 333XL soonish anyway:
http://www.laney.co.uk/products/product_details/156
I mean I still love my Marshalls and others but have switched allegiance for now. Marshall need to up their game as Laney are IMO building better and fact at a far better price bottom line
Cheers and catch up soon all

yes I am. AND my f**king hands and elbow hurt and the PT isn't doing much good. I've 600 guitars, and can't play shit other than a f**king A chord (and that hurts too)
There's nothing wrong with my guitars, it's me. 100%

Dude you use feel and I really admire the way you use reverb, Its much more classy and better than I can do when I have tried and that is going from what I have heard of your playing. I mean that honestly, I would really love to hear more
But yeah maybe it is just the DiMarzio combinations doing all the work
And the best personal advice just from my own experiences I can offer you and I don't mind saying it openly here - I find when I am pissed off at anything, everything and most of all myself it might be when I am most productive, I know it won't ring true with everyone and YMMV of course. Still it can't hurt to put some genuine anger into a riff, a rhythm or a lead line/phrase could it? Who knows you might just get a taste for the darker side
Being honest is not a whine, If it is then I do it too much and should just form an emo band
