I did it like in the second scenario, still I heard the Phonec sound as well when I used Phonec as an effect for a track. Only when I use it as an effect associated with a synth (i.e. I could save both synth sound and Phonec FX as one patch, regardless of tracks and projects), does Phonec itself not sound. Maybe this is a Mixcraft architecture thingy...

I'm not familiar with Mixcraft at all, I'll have to run a test and get back to you on this.

I just tried the Phonec FX demo on a track in Ableton Live 9. It was added after the Electric synth and it worked as intended. The audio went through with no sound from the oscs. Only echoes and the melt effect was applied

Don't bother, Mixcraft is not a very common DAW while its download is huge.

I can now get it to work as an effect, but in FL STudio I must avoid using the presets, otherwise it becomes silent.

It is very similar to the one in the audio file before, but I had forgotten to save the preset after changing it and recording the little part So it is not exactly the same, but almost...
The bass is pretty deep, so I used the HP filter on a bass
