because of your edit I will show you the respect of removing my post as well

Thanks. We have discussed this already, and there's no need to go on further. Just to state the facts correctly. I still like Samplitude, and I still consider it a great piece of software - it's Magix, and it's policies I am angry with. I think we basically agree about the matter. You just moved on... I didn't.Hink wrote:because of your edit I will show you the respect of removing my post as well

I guess it's all a matter of perspective.
I upgraded my Protools 9 to 10 last year and I got clip gain and a channel strip. The UPGRADE costs...and still costs.. $299.
And ProTools is a program that takes forever to load, sometimes exhibits a bug where there is a click at the end of EVERY clip (what fun going through an entire track shortening each clip by a 32nd note!) and won't accept vst plugins!
Offline bouncing? Not at this time. Spectral editing? What's that? 64 bits? In your dreams.
64 bits promised for the NEXT update (probably for at least ANOTHER $299) at which point several thousand dollars worth of third party RTAS plugins you bought over the years are instantly useless because Pt 10 is the last version that supports RTAS. (I'm being a little dramatic here, because a lot, if not most, plugin makers are converting to AAX, but not all and there will be many laggards, you can be assured. It will be messy.)
And don't get me wrong...I like ProTools...I've got thousands of hours on that program. But I've gotta say...after just a week on Samplitude Pro X 64...it ain't much of a contest. Better, smoother, faster and does more in less time.
Sign me up.
As for Magix...they seem to be dynamite at the technical development level...not so good at marketing, etc. I can live with that.

Edit: BTW at the end of everything last time around the upgrade was 50 dollars less than to upgrade from 9>10 or 10>11 as I recall (I ended up up paying 200 dollars while the others were like 250)[/quote]

@w1awb, perspective and priorities if you ask me. It's a shame that there is a sense of my daw is better than your daw and I think we are all to blame...we're peoples and that's what we do
Because of another thread I downloaded Samplitude Silver and you know what? It's pretty cool, like Greg said in that thread it's great on a laptop for ideas, but it's also really great if you can get by with 8 tracks...of course for many years quite a few of us got by with 4 tracks on cassettes. I think it's going on my daughter's laptop because she is really showing an interest now and her singing is getting very good (she's 17).
It makes me think that perhaps the noise floor of host hate/love needs some examination. It isn't about bad hosts, in this day and age bad hosts do not exist or if they do they wont last long. The floor has been raised to a point where we should not measure in the negative.
If we take it from that perspective and add priorities it's easy to see that we live in a time that would be jaw dropping to a 23 year old Hink. There really is something for everyone at any budget level, no one should ever have to defend what works for them. Better still at any level it's still not "off the rack" market, even with freebies one's imagination is the limit.
Now of course your point was perspective of the price on upgrades and all the same things should hold true imho. One should not have to defend their willingness to pay high upgrade costs any more than someone should defend their using less expensive daws. Perspective and priorities, I have never stuck with any host for 6 years...I have a lot of projects going (I mean a lot because I never finish anything) in Samp, my perspective is the cost of upgrading is the price I pay but it depends on my priorities part of which is "do I need this upgrade?"
I went a long time after samp 10 was released (in fact I think 11 was just coming out) to upgrade to 10 and I only stayed at 10 for like two months. Right now 64 bit was why pro x was needed but I even waited a while to go to pro x because until this time last year my machine was not 64 bit (when I upgraded my machine I upgraded samp).
There is nothing saying one has to upgrade, there are samp users still on 7 and 8 over at the samp forums. If we all jut stopped trying to keep up with each other and keep our own pace...oh well, not going to happen

Hink, good points all.
I didn't mean to get into a "my DAW is better than your DAW" thing. In my case Samplitude, ProTools and Live 9(which I use for sound design) are ALL my DAWS, anyway. I was really just trying to make the point that I found Pro X to be an excellent value. Guess I shouldn't have gone off on PT so much but over the years my frustration level has grown. But...like you said; it's all good.

Ahhh Samp finally getting some of the recognition it deserves!
---minus the threads of 'Samplitude sounds better'! (which it does :-=) )
Can someone please speak to the fx included in Samp12
I know they are high quality and creations of Sasha, but can someone compare to some other fx's? which are weak or strong or are they all killers out of the box? --compared to Waves for example.....
Tx for any info!

IMO they're better than Waves, and MUCH lower overhead on the system.jazzimprov wrote:Ahhh Samp finally getting some of the recognition it deserves!

I sold my Waves a long time ago.
Ammunition alone is worth the price of admission.

Putting aside my feelings, I think that the price Pro X Suite is being sold right now at JRR shop is a complete no brainer. And if you buy the download version you even avoid european VAT. Just to give you an idea, the price asked is basically what I am asked to pay in Samplitude shop for an upgrade from Samplitude 11 Pro to the Pro X Suite.

Anything new from Magix at Musicmesse 2013 ?
i.e. new update, or the next version of Samplitude Pro X ?
The Mac version is still a few months away. So, I don't expect it to be shown at Musicmesse.
Thanks,
Muziksculp
